I had this update performed today and they installed P/N 20985421. I just hung up the phone with them and they said that this is the latest update GM had for the 2010/2011 PDIM. It is still taking some time for the index to complete and I have DB/DB not DB/DD. ![]() ![]()

because, sorry, but whom ever you talked to is misimformed......or is walking around in the configuration.. as I have had the update done on my 2010, I had the dealer order and install the PDIM listed in my post, and my HW/SW is at DB/DD so I don't know what to tell you......as I stated before, whomever you talked to is mistaken.

Its amazing to me that GM is still messing with this issue. It took my dealer 7 tries to get it right on my car and even then they fixed it only after I went to the dealership manager and threw a fit. I had also worked with local dealer service contact and service tech to no avail. Also tried to work with the customer service at GM corp and got no where, he parroted the dealer actions that I had the most current update and module, even tho the PI came out in May of 2011 or before. Mine was resolved in August, about 9 months back. PP MANAGEMENT BY GM! Last edited by cmore; 05-10-2012 at 05:54 PM. |

cmore.....thats why Jeff while help take care of it if you get him involved.....but your right, as a customer, we shouldn't have to go through nine miles of crap to get something fixed.....ESPECIALLY when WE know how they can fix it.....JUST PUT IN THE RIGHT FRICKIN PART!! LOL

I'm also having the issued of it "cracking and popping" when plugged in through USB.
It's not too annoying, but just something not right.

Guys I will tell you that I had to stay away from this forum and thread last night cause I was so
and I didn't want to say something that I might regret. What gets me the most is that I had sent a service consultant an e-mail with the PDF of the update that listed the part number on it. Their left had sure doesn't talk to the right hanf cause I had a different service consultant call me and ask me what the update was. ![]() ![]() When speaking with the second one I gave him the actual document number for him to look at on his GM site and he found it and STILL installed the wrong one. It get's better....... I also have a small clicking noise coming from the rear of the car after I start it up cold and drive it maybe a mile. (this is when I have noticed it the most) When I picked my car up yesterday it had the exact same miles on it as when I dropped it off. No test drive was performed. I have LT headers, hi flo cats, and Borla ATAK axle back's and he kept saying that the clicking could be coming from the exhaust. ![]() ![]() ![]() Needless to say, the actual service manager and I will be having a conversation today. Not over the phone, he will have the pleasure of seeing me in person.

I have the clicking as well, I just figured that I forgot to feed the trunk monkey. Now, back on topic... I agree that most of the service centers seem to get the PDIM wrong the first time. It took me 2 tries to get mine right. In my case, the service department transferred me to the parts department, I gave them the part number for them to order and then the service department installed it once the correct part came in. Basically, you need to do all of the steps yourself if you want it done right... It's a shame, but such is life.. Like Sir Nuke said, you can always contact Jeff. He should be able to help. |

Sir Nuk,
Your PDF document may turn out to be my Holy Grail. When the service guys pull up that document number, it doesn't have the correct part number on it, but yours does. The only problem with that is it doesn't list the Camaro as being a vehicle that needs it. The service manager is contacting GM to see if that part number is covered under warranty for the Camaro when it lists it for the Equinox. To answer some other posts. I went there on Saturday to begin this process and was given a service consultants business card with his e-mail address on it. I saved and attached the PDF from this thread for the re-programming and also put ALL the info they could have possibly needed to complete my total visit in an e-mail to him. One of the issues I had was the clicking that Pur3vil was so kind to inform me of. The way I had described the issue to them, they would have had to drive it to duplicate it. The car had the EXACT same miles on it when I picked it up as it did when I dropped it off. The invoice clearly stated road tested, could not duplicate. ![]() ![]() ![]() Still waiting on my return phone call from their service manger to see how they are going to handle the PDIM situation and the false invoice statement.

swizlstik, like Pur3vil stated, the best thing for people to do is to order the part and when it arrives, have them install it under warranty. As when people go in for this problem, their dealership typically don't have the part....if you obtain it for them, then thay only need to install it.
BTY.....I obtained all this information, including the part number on the PDF, I obtained form this thread.

Just got my car (2012) that was just built. Came with DB/DB. I asked to be updated to DB/DD. Tech tells me that only the 2010/2011's can be upgraded to DB/DD, and that DB/DB is the newest version for the 2012's. At first, I didn't believe him, but after thinking about it, perhaps this is true.
My car remembers the song I was last playing and continues from where I left off (even when removing the USB). Indexing only takes about 30 seconds. It remembers to keep "Shuffle" on. There's no static when using the AUX cable with my phone. Bluetooth works flawlessly, as well. I really had no basis to argue, as everything was working perfectly. Now, has anyone who bought a 2012 gotten an upgrade to DB/DD? Also, what is the difference between the DB and DD software? This thread is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long to scour for all of that information. I'll try, but if anyone knows these answers off-hand, please let me know! |

I have a 2012 and am on DB/DB but I have had my car in for noise pops/crackles. Dealer couldn't replicate and wouldn't upgrade to DB/DD...we'll see I guess!
