BTW I was just on some Mustang forum looking around, allfordmustang.com I think. Man they are totally bashing the SS and are acting like the 5.0 is God's gift to the auto industry. Just thought I would share that.
There are some bad fanbois on both sides.

I can't say I've owned a 5.0 GT but I have owned 2 GT500's... and I will say they are so close that it's a personal preference. I can't fault either owner.

As for the track time, I would believe 13.1-13.4 but 12.3? I'm thinking tune and CAI but even then it would have to be one hell of a hook. I'm not a seasoned track go'er... just my observations so take it with a grain of salt.

No doubt that both are great cars. I really love the fact that Ford came back with the 5.0. It should be real interesting with some cool months ahead and more 5.0s on the streets to play with to see how this plays out.

My best friend bought a 2011 5.0 and it is a beast. This past weekend he ran 12.32 at the track in Eau Claire, WI. He has CAI, Tune, and Drag Radials. Before the mods he ran 13.1 and 13.2. I ran a 13.13 with my SS and the only upgrade I have is a CAI. I'm thinking both the SS and 5.0 are pretty impressive for stock cars and pretty even in performance. Whatever you think I'm just glad the US auto makers are back in the muscle car business. The rivalry only makes it better for us.... the consumer.

I'd say that 12.3 is a bit optimistic. When I went to the track a few weeks ago my buddies bone stock 2011 Mustang 5.0 traps were consistantly 110 mph.

These are about the times I would expect.

IF it was a blue one, the car is tune only. still running street tires, but the driver just about lives at the track.

To each his own I guess. It may have been cheap, but it also sounds like it. It has way too much cackle. Almost sounds like my buddies old Z71 with straight pipes.
