This may be a repost however that is pretty impressive considering the car just hit dealers in May. That is roughly 5 months from new to market and into the 8's. Almost unprecedented.

I love post after post about the EVO car.
It has a race weight of 3090. 600 lbs removed for all the famed 10 second bolt on runs and god knows when it started (probably sooner). Evo claims (minor weight reduction lol) They have been known to lie in the past about several things and are still stretching the truth. The car is lighter than a Z06 by 200lbs for god sakes...LMAO Dont beleive me? http://www.**************************-...ss-l99-18.html post number 353 FINALLY got some hard numbers on this BS. 10.9 without even headers...give me a MFING break. Livernois just now broke 10's and they have full exhaust, gears, intake manifold, CAI, 12 : 1 pistons, race gas, stage 1 cylinder heads...you name it except for cams...they just broke 10.9. And had the advantage of an auto with 4.10 gears. The times are nothing above and beyond the bolt on times of a 5th gen when all things are kept equal. The one person on this webste who ran some 17 inch bogarts on an exhaust/tune 5th full weight pump gas stock gears ran an 11.7 (because he got a stang like 1.6 60 ft..simple as that)....enough said. Its just no one is doing it/ it is so easy to just slap on some 15 inch rims and good tires to an 11GT and run great times. 5th gen owners are stuck with 20's most of the time spinning down the track. 18's are the smallest option uinless you want to spend 650 each on the bogarts and 17 is as small as you can go. With equal traction their is NOTHING to be scared of. It just takes a little more time/money to get the 5th gen hooking. No doubt the 11Gt is the better/easier car to go drag stripping with. Damn I am very excited to hear you can get the car down to 3090 lbs. That is just 10 lbs more than my 90 LX weighted when I had it weighted.
![]() Would make for a great track car. |

![]() Here is a good friend of mine's car a couple of weeks ago: Worse air without the converter: I have yet to see a 5th gen. run anywhere near that with as few mods. ![]() His race weight is roughly 3,800lbs. with him in the car. Hardly a stripper. Hard to swallow isn't it? |

Obviously your friend has taken 2000 lbs off the car. I mean just look at it.

Ok...nice runs. Not even close to what evo claimed.
11.4 at 116 is not out of 5th gen range. And I wish it were different..but the L99 is down 30 hp and can not run with the 5.0 mod for mod. So comparing a stalled auto to an m6 ls3 is tricky at best, and the auto in your vid has 4.30 gears while the ls3 car had a stock 3.42. And then are we still keeping things equal with the rim/tire combination?...some people seem to think this doesnt matter and it is one of the most important things. one person has run with 17 inch bogarts with full exhaust and tune..he ran an 11.7 at 114-117 depending on run. And we are talking about a car running IRS and 17 inch rims on a 250 lb heavier car. I am still not impressed. Is it so impossible to believe that a 5th gen could go mid to low 11's with bolt ons as well if some more people were doing it...or at least had some gears? People act like the jury is out and hardly anyone has done a damn thing yet... Texas speed has now gotten their stock bottom end NA pump gas 4th gen to 9.6. Take a bunch of weight out and go really fast..thats all I have seen out of the 5.0 that is really making them show a large advanatge. When you remove over a quarter ton of weight all bets are off and I am not sure why we have to see vids of this crap every day when it doesnt even remotely compare to any type of real world car. And I am sure some people understand that...but lots of people on here take what they have done as gospel/easily done. When staying at full weight/keeping things equal the difference is not that great. Still not sure why we should be scared. Why are you ...because I dont beleive the EVO BS like we are sold on this website every day?And whats up with the trap speed? I though stock auto 5.0 cars could trap 115? LMAO I have no problem admitting the 5.0 is a better track car to start with, which is good for aboutr 1% of people who are buying this car new. It has an SRA and is lighter. But I am not going to accept that it is head and shoulders above the 5th mod for mod or stock or whatever...it is a couple tenth difference either way if both cars are hooking/both have suffiecient rim and tire combinaions/ everything is fair. They are ~250 lbs apart with very similar power...they are going to run within a couple tenths of each other if both are hooking...the 5.0 has not been sprinkled with special pixie dust. And I am still thinking a full h/c build ls3 5th gen will out run a h/c 5.0....but we will see Last edited by ULTRAZLS1; 10-22-2010 at 01:48 AM. |

That is far fetched and just another Internet tale. It is practically impossible to get the car that light period. There is not 600 lbs. of stuff that can be pulled from the car period. Add in a roll cage and all the required race gear. It would be nothing short of a miracle to get the car below 3,300lbs. race weight.

Same night he ran the 11.44 there was a 5th gen. Camaro there with cam, intake, CAI, drag radials, full exhaust and a tune. Best time I saw him run was a 12.4. 1 full second behind. D/A was 1,200' for most of the evening. Point being...given better air and a few tweaks, that 11.44 could easily turn into a 11.2 or close to a 10 all N/A. BTW - He is running 93 octane pump gas as well. |

^ ULTRAZLS1 why don't you pick up a set of cheap corvette rims and throw a set of DR's on there and hit up the track and go for 11's? I see you've spent a bit of money by adding hp but none on traction department. My very first mod was a set of DR's, I even put it before window tint and look forward to getting kicked off the track for running too fast w/o a cage in a stock car w/ DR's which is any car quicker then 11.5 at my local track, so it looks like im gonna be roll cage shopping while I still have my factory warranty in tact and before I even put a tuner on it.
![]() It looks cheap and easy enough to me. Or if you have a lil bit extra coin I'd send you stock rims off to Weldcraft and get them widened and throw on a set of those bad ass 20" Nitto NT05R's or squeeze them on the stock with rims like ive seen other 5th gen's do.
