Radar / Laser Detector. Escort 9500ix. All that needs to be said.
Most everyone here is lucky. I live in the only "State" in the Union (Commonwealth of Virginia) that doesn't allow the use of radar detectors (besides Washington, DC). Buy a radar detector and be relatively assured that you'll ALWAYS get to the hospital, wedding or funeral on time - and never look back!

Also in Texas if you are speeding you can take defensive driving and then you will not actually get the ticket or the points involved. Go to the court and ask about what options you might have available. I am a little bit surprised Alabama does not offer some kind of "options" you can take to avoid getting the ticket. In Texas, there are like 2 DIFFERENT ways to avoid having the ticket go on your driving record: take Defensive driving (if you qualify), or Deferred Adjudication You can use the defensive driving option once per year, so you can just keep getting tickets yearly and still not get any tickets on your record, so long as its not way over the speed limit.
