Depends on what your doing with the car. If your building some serious horsepower then it's a must. Some drag strips require them after a certain trap time is reached in the 1/4 mile and won't let you run anymore until you install one. My friends SS has one that was installed as part of a Hennessey 550 build and looks good. At some point I'm sure I will end up adding one too but will mod the seat delete panel so it stays in to. Right now my main focus is weight reduction but keeping a like factory appearance or at least a factory option look. A cheap but really good investment is in a weight scale so you can weight stuff going off and on the car.

What are these plastic dust shields in front you are talking about? Wheel liners? Keep in mind where you are taking weight out too. I took a lot out but mostly rear so front to rear distribution is not going in right direction. The more you take out the front the better. I am still contemplating muffler delete and light weight battery, will bring me into 33xx but again, all rear weight loss so not sure it will help my laptimes much. Tbd lol

I think im as far as I can go on the back for weight reduction too, other than cutting out the wheel well spare area and adding flat aluminum, but not going to do it. Been focused on the front for weight reduction and getting there slowly..lol just removed the fire wall insulation crap and looks so much better now. next up for me is drop down springs (-1.4)as they should be lighter due to being shorter per your direction last we spoke..

Mgizzle -I been pondering on the idea of aftermarket radiator cooling fans for less weight. I think the slim line fans are lighter than the ones we have from factory. I made a custom fan shroud but held off on permanent install with hope that I can add lighter fans to the custom shroud. Any idea if the aftermarket slim line fans are lighter? Here is the one I made and its a touch lighter than the factory plastic one.

I took the front sway bar out today with intentions to polish it to match the rest of the polish work I did last year and holy cow it is on the heavy side. I thought it would be hollow but its actually solid. I weighed it and its 15 lbs. Im going to see how much an aftermarket hollow tube one weighs and will probably go that route. BMR makes some hollow tube ones and they look good too. I wonder what the weight difference is

Pulled the plug and ordered a BMR front stabilizer bar.. fingers crossed it is lighter than stock one. Stock one weighs 15lbs. I think the BMR is 8-12lbs but they never responded back so just gotta wait till it arrives. Really leaning to coilovers down the road for
less weight too!

New BMR front stabilizer bar arrived today. So far Im, happy.. happy.. happy!
Looks good, but most of all it is lighter by 4lbs 8oz than stock. Ill get pics up of it installed this weekend if I get a chance to install. Here's are the weight scale pics. Hard to reduce weight on the front of these cars but this is one step in the right direction. Nice product by BMR and it is adjustable (3 settings) as well as you can grease the fittings, unlike the stock one. Stock bar with clamp hardware on bar BMR bar with clamp hardware on scale

01/10/2017-After calculations my car should weigh 3699lbs even, once the new front bar is installed. 161lbs removed.
I know I can shave another 150+lbs off the car, so I'm stoked!
