With the 3600 below 50 MPH the RPMs go up and down a little bit. Loud till over 50 as well. Shacks a little in Gear at stops. Seams to be doing better from when we picked it up.

Thanks for the videos. Anymore of it idling or setting a stop light? Id like to see how bad the surging is if possible

Will get more soon. Do U want to see it in gear w/o the brake on and not on the gas at a stop?

Wow!

First gear almost seems useless with the stock tires on it. I see you're from PA. I thought none of the mod stuff would pass the annual PA emmissions tests...does your car pass? I"m curious how much the cam and install cost...PM me if you don't want to say to the public...I'd like to do it too, but I know I can't afford it...lol.

An after thought: I don't think the black GTO will be able to beat you now...whadda ya think?

Have to ask now that it has been driven a bit.... still happy with the VVT 3 Cam?

I'm stuck between doing a VVT cam setup vs LS3 conversion.

I've been debating on the VVT cam vs LS3 conversion as well. My high performance Chevy dealer would do the install but when I mentioned to the shop manager that I want a VVT cam with AFM/DOD delete, his response was "I dont see the advantage of keeping th VVT variable valve timing..I think the LS3 timing gear is more reliable and stronger.."

I was surprised to hear that there is no advantage for VVT. Really? I can see how it can be more reliable since there are less moving parts but there is certainly an advantage of variable timing in my opinion but what do I know?

The only Benefit I can conclude from what little I know of it..... is that you can gain the same peak power or more as if you did the LS3 conversion but with VVT you can keep a higher power band (or gain) through the RPM's unlike if you did the LS3 conversion. Thus why they say you keep low end power and also gain at the top... as where LS3 you gain at the top end.

I'll just go with whatever my Install is more comfortable doing. Thought TSP seems to make it very simple for the install/tuner.

I agree with you all the way. I like the idea of having additional power across the band at every rpm. I think it would be more fun to drive on the street. I think the dealer was referring to cost and amount of labor involved would be about the same so why not just do the conversion and have more cam options and more reliability although I never heard of vvt cams failing.

My dealer is very comfortable installing either cam and they have a great reputation for quality work. I couldn't trust anyone else more.

There is some confusion about installing VVT cams. When installing more aggresive VVT cams such as the VVT-3 you're still basically doing an LS3 conversion with the exception of the cam and cam phaser so the final cost is about the same. I know personally that my car is a daily driver so having the power band starting lower was a big factor in deciding to go with a VVT set up.

Hopefully we are going to be able to know / feel what it will do with some 18's in the rear. I found him a set of Nt 05r's on 18's in the wheel/tire selling section. Right now if trying to get on it from a stop with the Stock tires it will want to go off the road. He has not tried to lock the convertor b/c how the rear breaks loss, I keep trying to get him to try it in a parking lot, with no people or cars. "One in Video's for haters, lol" On the Highway @ 70 mph push to the floor it kicks out. What I seen from the site is that 18's are the way to go for his power. He had the 20' Nt 05r's and the car could be reved w/ the break on and the tires would not spin wile launching when on the stock convertor and cam, with the rear end mods. Tracks still closed around here. The 18's should hook the car up. from what I'v seen.

Yes, it's pretty drivable with that convertor. Cop's only came once to the house, ha ha. The cop just said do not worry bought it. The gas did take a hit. 7.5 city 12's highway now.
