its like having christmas 2 days in a row but the 1st one sucked. see you guys tomorrow.

but i will leave you with this. prior to realizing the wrong cam gear was in, it was already on the dyno and had made the first baseline pull...absolutely NO changes were made. it was already sitting at 430HP and 400 TQ. the TQ came on at 3000RPM and carried out FLAT LINED till around 5500RPM before dropping.

Are the teeth spaced different on the gears? That much running would start to make me nervous if they're different...

Just so you're not freaked out, I did some reading, and they aren't different. It's just that your ECM can't tell if it's compression or exhaust stroke sometimes.

Cant the wrong timing gear cause all sorts of damage? Wouldnt the cam not be in the right position for the lifters causing all kinds of cam and lifter carnage? Did you check the cam to make sure there were no marks on it? Hope all is well. Looking forward to your results.

The toothing on the gears is identical, so mechanically the timing stays the same. Its the reference on the cam gear that the ECU needs to realize where the actual position is for startup and other timing events, fuel & air, stuff like that. Same concept as if the cam timing sensor were to go bad. No mechanical damage, just decreased performance and startup. Hope that helps.

Made the same mistake in 07 on my Trailblazer SS. Its definitely a mistake you only make once. Back then it wasnt as well known. I hadnt even heard of a single bolt cam until I got this one apart, and not many people i talked to had either. The cam companies didnt even have cores for the single bolt. So I just picked up a 3 bolt gear and put my aftermarket cam in. It turns out I had a 50-50 shot on the 3 bolt gears.lol. I was unlucky, got to do it over again the next day.

Not bad. That's no head work and stock manifolds? If so that is pretty impressive... well impressive either way just more so without the other two mods. LoL

Sent from my friggin Droid by two thumbs using Tapatalk 2 or whatever the ish it's called....

yeah, i wasn't shooting for a high HP cam. wanted to keep it closer to 450HP/450TQ. im good with 459/425 though, its a good split without losing driveability or any other side effects.

mods:

roto fab cai
ported throttle body
vararam power wedge
cam (duh)
LG motorsports LT's w/hf cats
ark exhaust
3.91 gears
and some suspension stuffs.
