“ seat lever housing on top of seat was loose ”

Mine became loose when loading dog in the back.

Needed a shot of epoxy and it’s been good since.

...and you probably drive it like you stole it instead of an easy break in - how else can anyone explain why some motors seal up much better than others, it's not factory tolerances, we know those are good

Moderately aggressive break in works, the canned language in most owner manuals is out of date

Good luck with that line of thinking here I did the proper, as you say, "moderately aggressive" break-in and had zero oil consumption. My new forged internals were broken in by the shop, but the engine still doesn't drink much if any oil as far as I can tell.

These OEMs always prescribe conservative break in procedures because they don't want owners going nuts, but it's well documented most break in is done after about 10 heat cycles. Abrupt throttle, cool off, repeat - early oil changes - it's worked for me with many engines

Worst thing you can is cruise down the freeway at 70 in top gear - but I see it all the time

Sorry for those that have this problem, I dealt with it on my both of my GT350s, one had its engine replaced because of it (was using a quart about every 80 miles at the end). A real pain in the rear end. Broke it in properly to.

I feel fortunate my ZL1 doesn’t use any oil. Broke it in mostly by the book and changed the oil/diff fluid at 500 and 1500. I have about 4100 miles on it now and have been getting on it a lot the last 1000 miles. It is still at the top of the dipstick from the 1500 mile oil change.
