Only advice I'd give someone starting out is don't kill yourself on it the first week or two because then you'll just give up, which is what a lot of people I know did. I probably didn't even start going all out until about a month in, but after that it has been great. After I get through this 90 days I actually have a vacation planned and then I plan on doing another 90 when I get back.
I always wondered if that worked.

Congrats to all of you on your progress!

I am moving into a new apartment this weekend and I plan on using the Gym that is available. I'm just not sure on what kind of a routine I should do. I am 5' 10" tall and weight about 300 right now. I would like to get below 250 and work my way to 200.

Well I am in no way an expert, but I've managed to drop about 10 lbs which is very difficult when you are only about 20 lbs overweight to begin. This is what seems to be working for me:

The number one thing I have changed is calorie consumption. When I order food I always order less than I think will fill me up....at first this was hard because I was still hungry, but I powered through it until the next meal. I ate low calories snacks between meals to ease the pain. Now after doing that for a couple months it's pretty easy to order small and I try to eat only 2 meals a day!

Number two...cardio exercise. Now I'm not saying you need to get crazy at the gym everyday, but work your way up. I started out just by walking on my work breaks around the block. Only a couple miles total everyday, but it all adds up. Now I bought myself a mountain bike and I ride it 2-3 times a week usually for over 5 miles.

Number three is resistance workouts like push-ups, sit-ups and pull ups. I do these things at least 5 days a week. Take my word for it you will see the quickest results if you do some resistance workouts combined with #1 and #2. I am now at the point where it is very easy to do my at home resistance work outs. I will start venturing to the gym just about 2 days a week for an increase in free-weights, etc.

I believe in only one more month I will be at the best physical shape of my life and it wasn't as hard as I thought. The main thing was cutting calories and staying active. I'm 30 years old and will look better than those 10 years less my age on my upcoming Mexico cruise. Woo-hoo!

losing weight is ALL about calories. You have to burn more than you eat. It's as simple as that. You can actually calculate exactly how much you will lose if you eat a certain amount of calories. I eat 1300 calories a day. I weigh/measure EVERYTHING i eat. Ive been doing this since february 1st and have lost 16 pounds so far. I haven't went to the gym yet, but i will incorporate that into my routine next month.

Those are all great plans. Cutting calories is definetly going to take more will power than going to the gym. I can't wait to get started. I am tired of being overweight.

Eating for life and Body for life by Bill Phillips real basic approach to diet and exercise. It's easy to follow and is a very common theme in the most any type of diet and exercise.

Eating for Life is a cook book and meal planner that I use not so much to loose weight, but as an over health guide to eating better. You might be surprised at what you can do just by changing some of the simple things.

But you dont have to go to the gym, You can work out at the house using work out DVDs or even something like the wii all you have to do is move for about 30 mins- an hour a day, just do something other than what you do normally.
My husband & I have found working out to the wii fit is fun & if we can do it for about 2hrs a couple times a week its a fun way to work out, Then we do Cardio max, Bootcamp & yoga with the biggest loser crew, its fun & it keeps ya moving.
