You got it wrong, flat black would blend more with the road and not catch your eye.

If no one gets to it before me, I'll try photoshopping these black when I get home today and see how it looks.

quick question.....is there any extra protection on the bottoms from the factory or just paint?

Even though I'm not a big fan of the guards, I'm considering them since my Camy will be black.

okay, I'm not a photoshop expert. Rather than painting them black, I used the quick selection tool to select the guards, created an adjustment layer for each selection and then adjusted the levels to take out all the color. If anyone knows a better way I'm ready to learn. I don't know, maybe I made them too black?

Looks like a bunch of tar on the car.

I was kidding and appreciate your effort. I have the body colored ones and I'm happy with them. I'd take a point or two away from a styling standpoint but the road tar and debris they keep off of the rockers and rear flanks is worth it.

The black may work. It would be nice to see on a yellow, red, etc.

It's been awhile since I used photoshop, but in the earlier versions there was an option to change the paint brush mode to "Color"

That should be what you need.

I don't have photoshop on this PC otherwise I'd give it a try.

I have no idea why people think the mudflaps look bad or like an LTD. The only cars I think of when I see mudflaps are Camaros and TransAms from the 70's which I loved. I haven't even gotten my Camaro yet so I sit out in the sun and hold my orange mudflaps and admire the colour and sparkle and dream of the day when my car gets here and they can protect it from rocks and stuff.

And I definitely don't know why people think black ones would look better or be less noticeable. Hopefully this photoshop will at least put that theory to bed.

I have to agree. The molded in black doesn't look good. But really, molded ones only look good on trucks anyhow. I had trans am's in the 70's and don't remember mud flaps. They had spoilers in front of the tires. Plain flat black mud flaps that don't wrap around the fenders look the best because you really don't see them. I'll take a picture of my yellow 87 gta and try to post it to show you what I mean.

I think this is the look I was thinking of but yeah it's mostly in front of the wheel. But it reminds me of the new ones.
