See that's what we don't need. Threads like these are needed for people to learn how to debate while being civil. Shutting everything down everytime some random people can't hold their own does no good and doesn't promote growth. And that's what those people really need, GROWTH.

I would agree with you if it had been civil, but it hasn't.

But yes my friend that's the whole point we must not always let the couple bad apples spoil it for everyone.

Too much in society today does everything work in favor for the minority and the majority suffers. This is a problem that needs to be corrected and let this forum be no different. For the most part this has been a civil discussion, only a few post have been boneheaded.

Hey there thought I would chime in just a bit. Yea i may be 17 and i have the car pretty well payed by my parents but it isn't something that was just given to me as a birthday gift it was an agreement my family has had set since my sister was in high school (9 years?). They get us a new vehicle for graduation under the conditions we finish college and drive a "junker" to gain experience. (1 year of driving experience is far better then 6 months with a parent) Now i am not gonna say i have done everything right or worked my tail off for it but i intend to pay my parents back for their kindness in allowing me to have a sports car at all.

My opinion is if the kid can turn sixteen and cruise up the next day with an SS their is something a little wrong with that. (Now that probably is contradictory to what i am considered) 6 months behind the wheel with parental vision is different then 1 year of decision making behind the wheel alone! Kids always act a fool when they aren't around their parents but there are the rare few who keep the pride and honesty that they were raised with.

I sure hope I am, Sorry this was a bit of rant.
Thank you, David.

I think all hate towards younger members bragging about their car and acting like they could have bought it on their own is completely warranted.

Put the little runts in their place.

I agree it shouldn't be said that you are 16 and have an SS, but it also shouldn't be said, "Wow, sounds good for a V6" or "Why didn't you get a stick?" Everyone here has a sense of pride about their Camaro, he just took his pride in the form of being 16 with a Camaro. I hope everyone reads this and thinks about how they "brag" on C5.
The statement that EVERYONE on C5 is here to brag is just as much of a blanket statement as, "Teens with Camaros had the parents buy it."

Why would I brag about my Camaro to a bunch of people who for the most part already have one?

Personally, I'm here to have fun, enjoy camaraderie with other muscle car enthusiasts, and learn about possible mods I might want to do.

Up until the post shown below in that thread, posted by someone, things had been pretty civil. In fact, the first mention of namecalling came from that post in the thread...and continued through the rest. It's called flaming in BBS parlance.

"Shouldn't you be in school? I don't care for your undertone of typing...you sure come off fast as a little punk and making comments about being 16 and owning an ss isnt going to get you anywhere..especially if your not even paying for it.. "

I'm not saying they are here to brag, I'm saying by posting info about your car, you are inherently bragging.
