Because if the meth is spraying the IAT's would be considerably lower than if it was not spraying. Say the tune says that if the IAT is over 120 degrees then it only gets 10 degrees of timing, but if the IAT is below that it will get 15 degrees of timing. It is sort of set up like this from the factory (like when the computer senses knock it retards the timing), it just has to be "calibrated" for your set-up.
But the IAT sensor on a Maggie is in the manifold not the air intake tube so there is not as drastic of a change in IAT when spraying. My AIS kit would keep IAT's 20 degrees below ambient temp. |
