I get the "Is it the V6 or V8" question too. The other question that bugs me more is "Do you have the SS or RS?" So now I'm striking out in their mind... I have a V6 Non-RS Camaro. and I'm watching them pull away in a frickin' Camry. Lol, Look at my beautiful Rally Yellow Bumble Bee V6 Camaro... WINNING!

You could always lie lol, chances are if they are asking they don't know, and if they don't know they can't judge

I get a lot of "why didn't you get a stick instead of the auto" questions. And the "man, you got the auto...it is so much slower than the stick." You know why...because I wanted to. Personal preference. After driving stick in my evo and jeep I wanted to go back to not dealing with it. Personal preference.

Please be considerate in your replies and comments. We do not tolerate V-6 bashing in any form...

We all own Camaro's, and the trim level of Camaro you drive certainly doesn't make you any better than someone else...

Jez, do all the v-6 owners have their sensativity meters pegging out at 10!!!

Guys, I don't think people asking you questions is an intentional way for them to slam your ride. I believe that they generally like what you are driving and want to be part of the 'cool kid' crowd. Give 'em a break and just be a humble winner. I asked a lot of Camaro owners how they liked their ride before I finally bought mine. I honstly wanted to kow what they though about the cars and it did help me make my decision. I was not trying to be a 'you know what'. I admired their rides and was interested in why they chose the particular model that chose.

As for chicks in Camaros, I think it's awesome that some of you know more about these cars than a lot of the guys that own them, but let's be reasonable here; you ARE the exceptions. Your awesome exceptions, but exceptions none the less.

I know how you feel...Honestly, I've tried my best to advise folks just to be happy with what they have, be respectful of others, don't be a slave to fashion, etc...But no matter what, I've found there is no right answer!!

After numerous threads, I just don't know what people want to hear to make themselves comfortable or whatever!!

I give up!!! No more V6 "vs" V8 threads for me...!!! AMF

well, USUALLY, if they want to ask questions its becasue they are interested in buying one and want the opinion of someone other than the salesman....who are more likely to LIE or not know NEARLY as much as the should. So in that case I am happy to answer their questions and sit adn talk to them for as long as I can.....

IF the first thing that comes out of their mouth is the dreaded "is it a V6 or V8" question.....I look directly at them and politely say...."YA DON'T KNOW DO YA?" and sometimes they just walk away.....but sometimes they continue to talk and then ask the intellegent question of "HOW DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE? then I'll tell them anything they want to know.

Bottom line is, if they have to ask they have "no clue", so who cares!!

I never find it neccessary to be rude about it. I never get angry or short tempered about it either. They are usually fellow gear heads.
Maybe your perception of being rude is different than others' perception!

Pretty much the case. If they cannot tell by looking at the car which it is, they probably don't know much past the fact that there are v6 and v8 options.

When people ask me if its an 8,its usually at shows. One thing I tell them is my engine has more HP that more than half of the stock older cars here. Then they drop the attitude and usually start asking better questions.

I try to answer all questions though. Its when people act like they belong on the "short bus" is when I get annoyed.
