figure with what i've done i'll keep this car forever (however long that may be in reality is obv to be seen) and upgrade to the high end model with the next generation if I like it.

When I rented the SS and drove it regularly, I notice no difference. I just ate Arby's and though about other stuff. I forgot I had a V8.
It looked the exact same as my car minus the front end mailslot. So I got the exact same looks from everyone like in the V6.
The only difference was in the higher RPM range. And man, what a difference! But it was too fast for regular roads and felt dangerous.

I wanted a hot looking convertible that I could cruise in on sunny summer days and the V6 Camaro fills that need perfectly. Now when I need a truck I always go for a 4WD V8 as I frequently tow a 7000 LB caming trailer and I live in an area that gets a lot of snow in the winter so that meets that need. I dont begrudge anyone that wants to trade up as both are great cars but more people need to think and choose wisely on that first purchase and they can save a lot of money down the road by not taking the hit trading in a 1 year old car.

Get what you want. If you can't afford it, save. I do still regret getting the V6 but not a whole lot as the car still looks good.
Initially gas+insurance cost was a factor but I could have afforded it. My old car was on its last leg so saving a bigger amt wasn't an option.
But if gas hits $4.90+, I'd hate I got an SS.

One model at a time.

Also, aluminum doors would add cost which is one of its selling points but I wouldn't be surprised if its on their list of todos for it. Just not the highest priority based on their budget.
