Car was damaged, that sucks yes. Dealership should fix it. But all this crap about massive money off and whatnot. You know folks other people need to live too, and trying your best to undercut so hard is what made, most of your jobs go to china. When will we learn?

However when/if you get the car it should look like new and have no trace of this misshap.

I would take a very close look after it was repaired. If I was happy at that point buy as planned and if not simply order another. This is a fairly straight forward break by the shipper with a straight forward fix so there's no point in getting all worried about it. I would try to talk the dealer into a few dollars off, but I wouldn't expect much in that regards if they do a good job on the repair.

You can never give enough advice Ask for whatever amount you want back on the wrecked camaro and walk out if they don't give it to you.. Don't listen to all these other people telling you it can't be done..

This was transportation damage. And is considered repairable. It is not wrecked, it will not show up on carfax, some of you folks need to chill a bit.

The car does not have structural or weld seam damage to it. THat is the point when one would consider it wrecked.

There are established criteria for various damage types on vehicles. Some of which would render the car undeliveable to the customer.

Others would put it in differing classes as far as how the car would be able to be sold.

Each manufacturer has an established criteria matrix to define this type of situation.

As such, I would suggest that you go down, work with the dealer and GM rep, get the car fixed and make your decision. I would take her it home if everything is right on the car when completed.

That sucks, if it were me, and hopefully it won't be, I would let them repair it before I accepted and I would ask for some money off for the hassle. Looks like a pretty easy fix.

Question on your opinons;
A. Woulld you accept a damaged then repaired car as new?

B. Would you consider losing the uniqueness of pre-order, low vin 4372 etc...and take a replacement?

Thanks for your thoughts
Have them replaced the car. The 1st thing someone asks you when you go to sell is "has there ever been any body or paint work done?" and if so they expect you to give the car away. The new order cars are flying thru production compared to what you waited.

Good luck with the car, have them repair it and move along man.

My only other comment is although this is not GM or the dealer's fault holding them liable is your only option. They in turn need to do THEIR part and hold their transportation agency liable. Shit rolls downhill until it lands on the guilty party, don't hold back...your dealer will be compensated or he won't, it's up to him.

This is not the first delivery where this has happened http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...t=18918&page=2 post # 44. I would send a PM to Tigerrag2 to see what, if anything, they did for him.

My thought is to have them sell it to me for 1 grand under GMS. Then we would all be happy!

If it was just the mirror, I wouldn't have a problem with them replacing the part with a new one. Since it has more damage, I would pass on the car and get a replacement. I'm planning to keep my car for a very long time and do not want to take a chance on any body filler or repair failing over time.
I've waited this long for my car and expect mine to be unscathed when it comes in. If mine has any amount of body damage that cannot be fixed with a part replacement, I'll wait for another car.

Evil Twin is right...in Virginia dealers are allowed to make up to $3,000 damage repair to any new untitled vehicle before selling it and NOT having to tell the customer. So, who knows how many cars you've purchased in the past that arrived damaged or had damage while on the lot. That's life...
But in your case, you know about the damage...I would ask for another one...if you have to wait...at least you'll know that you'll be getting a different one.
