Sorry to hear about your accident, it looks repairable though. It always sucks getting that first scratch or dent that makes your car "not new"anymore.

Thumbs down

Ok been to my doctor got pain mess and some phys therapy prescribed. The collision center, whom I will say has already been great about all this, has checked the body so far and tells me it is still straight and that the fix should be strraight forward but more investigating to do once they take the bumper off. I will go after diminished value for sure and yes my back does really hurt. The other nice thing about the collision center is the owner actually is reading these threads and has his own camaro on order soon to deliver. Did I mention he lives about a mile from my house? I think I am in good hands. Thanks all for the support, very good stuff.

Sorry to hear that man hope everyone is ok. Personally i would try and get the car written off as thats a lot of dmg. Min imo i bet its 15k dmg but i could be wrong but not likely. With shop rates close to $100 an hour it could get bruttle. Who wants a car like this repaired that u havent even had a month. My wife had her camaro hit on the side that was just under a year old and the car was never the same again. It sucked after that as we took it back multiple times but we ended up selling it. It drove like a old car after that.

well I know you don't wanna total your car, but honestly you lost 4k as soon as you drove it off the lot and also you lost about 8k bcuz of that accident the value of your car is already 12k in the hole aprx. Do you really wanna keep it now and pay a deductible which is probably the same if not more than your monthly payment which hasn't even came through yet? I know I would keep it if I loved it enough to lose money on it, cuz I had something like that happen with a previous owned vehicle of mine. What do you wanna do? You will get parts no worries

Dam that sucks, I live in a town, so if I need to text, there's about a 100000% chance that you're going to stop at a red light and be able to text. Only way I talk on the phone is hands free, sometimes I get distracted by driving & don't hear any of the conversation. Totally opposite with my wife, I won't let her talk & drive. If she's on the phone, she starts swerving, same thing with a lot of people I know. I wonder why it's different with me...

Cool

Ok so here is my question. 1st off I ain't paying nothing all state is his insurance and they have to pay. But what if the insurance adjuster says it must be fixed and it's not a "totaled" situation? Wouldn't I need to keep it? I am not at worried about keeping it but don't think I have a say in totalling it. As you can see I have not been through this before and have been driving for quite some time now.

That really sucks but there's no way that it's going to be considered totaled. Probably $5,000 - $10,000 worth of damage considering it's new but the insurance isn't about to write a $30,000 check for that minimal (trust me, I wouldn't think it was minimal either if it was mine) damage. You're correct that you don't have a say in if the insurance decides if it's totaled. If so, we'd all demand new cars for every fender bender. The worst thing is that it will never be the same. They never are after they get damaged. :(

This just happened to me this Monday in my 2 week old CTS as well. It sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks!!

It sucks too.

$2084 to refinish my bumper. I just got a 3mph "love tap" compared to yours, but man the costs were surpisingly high. Thank jeebus for insurance!
