yet you ignore the fact that we sell far more goods and services overseas than we import. if not for energy, we would have a massive trade surplus. the difference is we have progressed to the point where we no longer engage in much low end manufacturing. we leave that to third world countries. we now produce and export computer equipment, heavy equipment, airplanes trains, ect.

the world, and the US has changed. You want to prosper in a first world country like ours you better get an education or learn a trade. the days of working on a stamping line for a moderate salary with a pension at the end of the journey are gone.

china is the exception, not the rule. with most countries with any notable industry we have pretty good agreements. though I'd argue the bigger problem there is the total disregard for copyrights and intellectual property.

And what about the vast swath of people that can't afford the education? What trade should people learn? Those are the people that take the hit here. Not us.

Education is priceless and has no borders.

At least here we have the luxury of talking crap about everybody's opinion with point-counterpoint and I can walk out the door right now and find one guy and girl who could give a crap less about the high-falutin candor we're slinging here. At the end of the day, I am thankful to God for all that I have in family, a home, a job and some outstanding sexy cars from the USA and Japan.

how can you not afford an education? low income people get subsidized 100% by the government and higher income people have nearly unlimited access to student loans.

bringing back low skill menial manufacturing jobs isn't the answer.

And all of this started with a meeting of "ricers" in some distant unknown parking lot who probably didn't give two shites about the Camaro in close vicinity to them.

A college education is expensive. I assumed that was the education your were referring to. How do you pay those student loans back when you can't find a job?

To understand how the Japanese have taken over the car industry starting in the late 60's you need not look any farther than what the Korean cars have done in the last 10 years. 10 years ago any car made in Korea was very cheap and junky, same as the Japanese were in the early 70's. but people bought them by the bucketloads only because they were cheap( their labor costs plus dumping cars over here cheaper than they could be bought in Japan didn't hurt them any). As the companies made more money be selling cheap cars they learned to improve them. Same as the Japanese cars did in the 80's, now Kia and Hyundai are quality cars and they are building them over here.
In fact the Japanese did the same thing with electronics and toys eventually running all the American companies out of business, then the Koreans just about ran the Japanese electronics companies out and now the Chinese are doing it to the Koreans.

college is like anything else, you can spend a little, a lot, or a fortune. this country offers easy affordable access to a formal education. but in my opinion, I don't think most of the student debt out there will be repaid. its up to a trillion dollars now. I don't know if a politician attempting to buy support will push to have it forgiven, or if it will simply go into default. but I don't expect us to ever collect all of it.

Good post Angrybird. That pretty much sums it up. Save yourselves or review history to see what is about to happen to us .
