Um do you even live here?
they are on I-10 every single day.
they always have someone pulled over.
They are using them with the Ghost Chargers as wolfpack cars.

My Roommate is HPD and knows the outfit that is driving them.
they are being used as low profile traffic enforcement cars.
and if you commuted at all you would see them every day on the I-10 corridor.

lol, some of you guys are just amazing. the visibility in the camaro sucks, period. it's brought up in every review of the car (regardless of type) and was the first thing I noticed when I sat down in mine. I think the first thing I said when me, my wife, and the salesman sat down was "wow, you cant see anything out of this car". that anybody can deny this is just pure camaro fanboyism. as others have mentioned, it's nearly impossible to see out the rear, you have to duck down to see traffic lights, you can't look over your left shoulder, and you can't see the front right corner of your car. the fact that you can adjust you mirror enough to avoid sideswiping people doesn't mean the car has good visibility. and neither does the fact that you can get used to it. I've gotten used to mine, and in a year and a half haven't' even come close to hitting anything. that doesn't mean it has good visibility.

Right there is the fallacy of putting too much faith in high-tech "solutions". It isn't going to get it right every time, and when it doesn't you'll be even less likely to know that things are about to go wrong until they finally do. "Hey, this gadget never lied to me before" . . . file under famous last words.

There was a very good suggestion made earlier, the one about backing IN to the space, so that you simply drive off later with the car pointed where it's easiest to have your eyes pointed. This is a good idea even in broad daylight, when you might find your car sandwiched between a couple of large SUVs, minivans, or pickup trucks. At home, you can set a stop block if you need to park your car to an accuracy of inches rather than feet.

Buy a convertible, put the top down before backing up. No rearward visibility problems then....

Some of you guys amaze me, getting so mad because it doesn't seem to bother some and others it is like its the worst thing they have ever encountered. Again YOU chose to buy the car even though most of you knew before buying there was a visibility issue. It's just funny how things get so heated. Sure visibility can be a pain sometimes, but I know the issues and take every precaution to keep from running into or over something.
I guess if its too much for some to handle you can always trade it for something else.

The only reasons things get heated is because of blind fanboys in denial.
Everyone knows the Camaro has the worst visibility in it's class.

But the ones saying that it has perfect visibility are just flat in denial or the C5 is their first car one of the other.
That is what gets people riled up.

This is in the country were you theres no street lights. the tiny back up lights dont provide much light at all. The mail box was also black. I never saw it in the camera and the sensors did not pick it up. Those were the only things I had to see behind me.
If you have the sensors, do you not also have the camera, or is that just on the 2013 cars?

Like some other recent discussion, the problem isn't entirely the car's fault.

Some of it, probably. I doubt that my car is much easier to back up into the last foot or so away from a mailbox post.

Most times, I wonder why people risk embarrassing themselves or attracting rude comments when it should be obvious that's exactly what's going to happen. A little discretion in what you put out there, a thick virtual skin, or both go a long ways here.

Have you even used the Camera in this car? it is just as bad as the visibility.

the wide angle lens in conjunction with no backup cues like other cars in this price range have makes the camera worthless.

I agree that the visibility is not the best, but its no worse than the Corvette I used to own but no one bitches about it because its accepted as part of owning a sports car or sports coupe. Sit in any of the exotics and you will find the visibility to be just as bad, again, its accepted as part of owning it. Even with sensors its possible for them not to pick up the mailbox post, which is what we're really talking about here, until you were right on top of it. We would need to see a diagram of how you were backing up and turning and where you hit it on the car.

Did not get that option, and sounds like a good thing I did not. I just thought it might have helped.

2012's that had the camera in the rear view mirror had backup cues.
Mine has two dashed yellow lines that correspond to the rear corners of the car, they also curve as you turn the wheels showing the direction you will be going.
