Great info Moose thanks!

Has anyone used Zymol wax? I've always used that on my Vette.

Only 2 stores carry Zaino and lucky me the NJ store is a stones throw away! I bought Z2, ZFX and Z6.

Shore Motor Sports
732 349-2999 **** (number Zaino emailed was no longer in service)****
1580 Lakewood Road (Rt. 9 South)
Jonathan Plaza, Unit 19
Toms River, NJ 08755

Fully stocked. Prices same as the Zaino website prices.

I am going to go back and buy the leather conditioner and the blonde towels. I just bought the McGuires cleaner and cond. for the leather and it was too shiny looking. Same w/ the McGuires I just bought for the dash. Luckily I used it on the vet first

I've never used Zaino and have been dying to try it, especially since my new Camy will be BLACK.......have a few questions:
-do you use the ZFX additive every time and do you think it makes it a better finish/easier?
-I live in South GA....hot/humid as heck. From what I read, Zaino polish can stay on for 20 min. or overnight before wiping off....does the Zaino polish dry slow.....is that the reason for the ZFX additive? If so, if it's hot out, should I skip the ZFX and just let it dry 24 hours in between coats? Current stuff i use dries fast and hard to get off.
-I use MF wash mitts, cloths, drying towels and applicators....any problems that you know of with these? I will be getting some of the blond towels and a new mitt as you suggested, when I get my Zaino.

Side note......just detailed my daughters RED 2001 alero and it was a mess.....Chips, Scratches, Oxidation. Used all Meguiars....Gold wash, Ultimate Compound, ScratchX2.0 and Gold wax. Took me 2 weeks and about 10 washes in between, but I was very happy. Also used the Meguiars Scratchx2 on my dark gray Tundra.....worked really well as long as scratch is not too deep.
Hi!

As for the ZFX, the only thing it will do is lessen the drying time.

Seeing as you mentioned "hot & humid", I'd probably use it. I almost always use ZFX now, even when applying polish that I'm leaving on over night. It can't hurt.

As for MF, its also fine to use. Just make sure the towles, mitts, etc., are clean.

AS for your daughters car, Meguires makes fine products as well. I'm glad her car turned out so well.

Your black Camaro will look great! That color takes some work, but its worth it IMO.

Please let me know how the Zaino process turns out and let me know if I can be a further help.

Also I have always used "armourall" for interiors (dash/console plastic surfaces etc..) but is there something better you use or would recommend that in your opinion works better or as well with less of the "slippery" feel left behind.

Cheers
Hi!

Well, as with wax, there are alot of opinions on tire dressings.

First, I personally avoid any "gels" as everyone I've tried "slings".

I've used dressings from Armor All, Zaino, and Meguires. I haven't experienced any negative effects from any of these mfrs. A good idea is to clean the tires of any dressing each time you wash the car. This will avoid any "greasy" buildup. So, I believe if you choose any prodcut from the three I mentioned, you can't go wrong.

For the interior, I ony use Armor All multi-purpose cleaner to wipe down the plactics, door jambs, etc., and have recently tried Turtle Wax Ice Total Interior, as it works nicely, without leaving any greasy residue/feeling.

Hope that answered your questions? Please let me know if you need further help.

Washing between waxes

Hey Moose,

Thanks for lending your expertise to all, we appreciate your time and effort. A simple question for you. I have a nice double coat of Maguires on my baby right now, and am wondering, what to use to wash her for the next few weeks/months, before waxing again? Thanks again bro,

Rob

Hey Rob!

Glad to help!

Seeing as you're using Meguire's already, I'd recommend looking at their offerings for car washing.

http://www.meguiars.com/estore/produ...nname=Consumer (Meguiar's Brand)>Auto Paint Care>Car Washes&sectionID=11101

I'd personally go with any of the "Gold Class' offerings.

I have a quick question on using Dawn...

I know that there are questions on whether or not to use it in the first place, but let's assume that I am willing to use it.

Does it need to be done on a car that has just been delivered without the dealer doing anything to it? I was under the impression that the Dawn step was only to remove old wax or polish and I'm not sure what is on it from the factory.

Dawn, or any dish washing liquid, is advised if you're going to be using Zaino and want to remove any previous wax.

Its not really necessary on a car that is "brand new". That being said, I'd personally still wash my new car with it to be sure I'm starting with a clean surface.

So, I have my brand new black 2SS in my garage. The problem is that even after it's been in the garage for a several hours it's still warm to the touch (I am in Vegas and it's 115 degrees here). So, can I wash a car that's warm to the touch as long as I keep it out of direct sunlight? (ie, wash it after the sun goes down)

They actually treat prescription glasses with something like this. It actually works too--provided you have the eye condition that causes the halos around the lights. Its also a VERY fragile treament and its not really possible to treat a windsheild. Regular OTC cleaners would remove the treatment in a heartbeat. If you wear glasses, pay the $50-100 and get it on your glasses, not your windshield.

And then the exterior stuff was a protect it for life, never need wax type of deal?!

Moose, I was washing my car on an overcast day when before I could finish, it became sunny fast. I brought my car into the garage as fast as I could, but there were alot of areas that had dried. I now have water spots on the car and I am not quite sure which direction to head or start.

Yes, you can go ahead and wash if it's still "warm to the touch". I've washed my SS, which is black also, when warm, with no problems.

Just rinse well prior to and after washing, and dry asap.

You can try rewashing the car first.

If that doesn't work, you migt want to consider claying it.

A third option is to use a wax/polsih with a very mild abrasive.

My guess is the spots will come off with another wash.

If not, try some wax/polish, and as a last resort, clay.

It doesn't sound like you did anything wrong, and therefore, you won't have any trouble removing the water spots.

Another couple of quick and easy ones for you.

Mine will be a CGM. Zaino website says Z-2 is for lighter colors and Z-5 is for darker colors. I've seen a few posts of people using both. So, for my CGM, do I go with Z-2, Z-5, or both? If both, what order will they get applied?

I plan on getting Z-18, ZFX, Z-2, Z-5, Z-7, and Z-10.... would you recommend any others as "must haves"?

Thanks... you've been a big help to a lot of us.

Thank YOU! GLAD to help!

OK;

1. CGM - I'd get both Z-2 and Z-5. First, look at the paint. If there appear to be a fair amount of swirl marks, etc., start with a coat of Z-5. Once it's cured and removed, look at the paint. If the swirlmarks are either completely removed and/or well filled, proceed to Z-2. If you feel another coat of Z-5 is necessary first, no harm in adding a second coat of Z-5 before proceeding to Z-2.

Also, you can always "flip flop" between Z-2 and Z-5.

2. Zaino - I'd add;
Z-6 Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray
Z-9 Leather Soft Spray Cleaner

Zaino Blonde Borderfree Towel: 3 pack

Hope that helped? Please let me know if I can help you further.
