Doors are complete or just a skin. Qtr can be sectioned in no problem.

Good luck.
If you're not intimately familiar with the body shop, be prepared to form a relationship with them. I'm sure as they disassemble things they will come across some additional damage and you want them to replace as much as possible and not repair, so they are going to have to do battle with the adjuster/insurance company.
ALSO as you probably are aware, you should insist to both the body shop and adjuster that all replacement parts are "Genuine GM Parts".
The shop should be able to verify that by parts invoices.
Again, good luck...

Most air bags work off of impact sensors. I've never seems any on doors due to the fact they get slammed shut and all. Who knows.
I worked a head on collision of a brand new ford escape. Front end was crushed!! No air bag deployment. And even more odd was the fact there was no foam behind the bumper cover. Was just a plastic cover and the metal support. The owner was pissed after I brought it to his attention lol I would be too!!

When my mustang got wrecked (v6) it was almost $7k damage. Everyone told me I should have requested it to be totaled due to diminished value and that it was so close to being totaled. Really wish I did.... I had to send it back a few times because of crap work done to it.

I'd sweet talk to adjuster. Try to not pick everything. Let him know you may be a pain and want everything done totally right.

The adjuster can pay everything needed to fix the car, but it is not his fault if the shop does a bad job. If you pick the shop and the insurance company does not have a direct repair agreement with them, once they pay the correct amount, it will be between you and the shop.

If the adjuster misses something.. Car doesn't drive straight or other parts were damaged its still an issue for the adjuster

Insurance is only responsible for the initial repair cost, not to correct a shops error, that will be between you and the shop. Make sure it is a reputable shop. if something shows up after the repairs and it is related and not accounted for initially, then yes the insurance will pay additional in a supplement.

I was an adjuster for many years, I paid everything needed to fix a car, even if questionable. But I still got blamed for bad workmanship even when all I did was to pay the full amount of the repairs. The adjuster is not a tech, they can only authorize payment for needed repairs. Its still the shop that needs to do quality work. It looks like a door, easy repair, qtr panel, again fairly easy even if sectioned. Suspension work should all be bolt in parts. looks bad, but in reality should be an easy repair. I would not fret.

Ok. Should I try being there when the adjuster comes? anything I need to ask or tell the adjuster when he is there?

On the estimate for repair it says all will be used by OEM products.

You bet you ass you should be there as the adjuster is going to try and lowball you, make sure you remind him that it was his drunk clients fault that you two should have ever met. No deals for drunk driving idiots like this.

Sorry to see that, but at least you and the wife were not hurt.
