There are many people who take their camaros out and enjoy them everyday, no matter the weather, not bothered by the miles accumulated or any wear and tear. They truly use the cars for what they were designed, having fun every minute.
I, on the other hand, pamper my garage queen, taking her out only when it's sunny and dry, obsesssing over every speck of dust and compulsively cleaning and protecting it. Oh, well...it's their choice...nobody's forcing them!

There are some days I wish my Camaro wasn't my DD - when it's snowing (like today) or when I take my dog out (she has a crate, but hair manages to get out). But overall I love driving my Camaro every day. My car arrived 4 days after I dumped my boyfriend. I had been so depressed and miserable. Getting to drive my Camaro everyday really pulled me out of the funk I had been in for 2 years. Better (but maybe not cheaper, lol) than therapy!
I respect people who keep theirs in the garage. Their cars look absolutely pristine. But that is not why I bought my Camaro. To each their own.

We have the garage queen phenomenon in the Harley world as well. I can understand why someone would want to keep a beautiful car or bike as nice as they possibly can. What you do is your business.
I walked into the showroom of a Harley dealer in 1984 and bought a new bike, a Shovelhead. 84 was the last year of that motor. From 1984 until 1990 I did not own a car. Wild and free! I spent a lot of time taking real good care of her, pride and joy. Fast forward to the 19th year of her life, a lady rear ends me while I'm stopped at a red light. That one moment of inattention cost me 19 years of taking good care of the factory paint. It made me sick. The hard lessons I needed to learn were of impermanence and attachment. Life is short, you will die. I still have the bike, with new paint, it will never be the same but that's life... |

Even with a six cylinder, after having it for sixteen months, I frequently look forward to getting off to drive my car and in the morning too. That's what driving a 120 hp Honda Civic for seven years prior will do to ya.

Driving my Camaro everyday makes getting up at 4am worth it.

We daily drive the 2013 1LE because the 1969 Camaro just aint street drivable anymore. If it was, it would get used for more than burnouts and the ocaisonal blast on the $10 a gallon gas. Cars are ment to be driven. Buy what you want and drive what you want teh way you want to drive it. Oh, and here is a news flash......GM keeps making better cars every year! When you wear the one out you have, you can buy a new one that will be even better. Crazy...I know!

I daily drive my Camaro as a Field Service Vehicle! Best dang service vehicle ever! Really makes me feel good after an annoying technical problem or customer. Small trunk but by putting most of my manuals on an Iphone well, everything fits in the trunk.

Bought to replace my van as the daily driver, now with over 128k miles on the Camaro I can say it is great to get into everytime I drive it!
Love taking the LONG way home and letting go a little on the curvy backroads! Miss it when I commute with the wife and take her more fuel efficent car! Keep up the DD!!! |

This! I daily drive my ZL1 and enjoy it every day. My 2SS I drove less (12K miles in 3yrs) and when I traded it for my ZL1 it was worth no more than a 2SS with a normal amount of miles. I took the depreciation hit so someone else could get a low mileage practically new car. When I bought this one I was determined to drive it more. Car is 16 months old and has 11K on it. I take care of it but enjoy driving it. In 20 years it MAY become collectable but most likely I will have sold it by then for my flying car. As said "Each to your own" but I own a car to drive and enjoy.
