I disagree. The issue is horsepower and speed, not price. The camaro should be slower than a Viper and close to the Mustang GT500 and at 426 ponies, shouldn't feel slow, regardless of price difference. If it does, it could be bad engineering, poor gear slection, a problem with the car etc.

On the other hand, I also have heard that the Camaro comes alive after break in so I would give it time and see what happens.

I was exaggerating to point out the comparison was with cars that are outside of the Camaro's price point.

This is an interesting debate. A "local expert" just returned his 2010 SS/RS automatic with less than 200 miles because it was "too slow" compared to his GT500 and Viper, what a coincidence! My opinion in this case is he probably couldn't afford the Camaro, or not being a GM person, didn't want to unlearn all of the Mopar/Ford tricks and understand the fine LS engine. Our gain, his loss!

I might mention that one of the reasons the GT500 "felt" faster, was because of the fact that it is supercharged. You'll reach peak torque so much quicker wich results in that seat of the pants feel.

some one might want to check to see if all the "power assist" features are turned off. A friend of might thought he might super charge his Camaro when he couldn't get the rear wheels to spin free, then he held down the traction control and the stabilitrac button for a little over 5 secounds and it disabled them both. Needless to say he is not complaining any more. Gears will have a huge impact on it as well. Try a 3.73 like you find in the Pontiac GXP and you will find the launch you are looking for, but if chevrolet would have put that on the Camaro SS how many of us would like to pay an additional 2,000 gas tax like you do on the Pontiac? Lets not forget about the heft the Camaro has over a vette either.

Has anyone seen the video of the gt500 against the Camaro LS3 on the quarter mile? (It was a car magazine who did it, just forgot the name) and at take off the camaro had the lead because of the better tires (pirelli) however by the en of the 1/4 mile of course the gt500 had the lead and finished shy of the 12.8 mark but the camaro did it in 12.9.
Not bad for a 10k-8k diff.

If you look at it you can do a supercharger with like hennesey and some other tweaks and it will take your camaro to 560-570 and then you can take the mustang on on a fair fight with an equal $$ point of view.

Ands on the second part Ive had my 2ss 6spd for 2 months it has 2400 mi and it runs better than when first took home, but I have heard that there were several not alot of people who got a bad trany and took the cars back, look into that possibility!

Good luck and congrats on your cars greats toys and as toys they are to have fun and not some people to get upset with you because of comparison.
