Nickey I applaud you and the Gibb Family for your efforts to pay homage to the man that co-created the COPO Camaro. I grew up in the area around LaHarpe and still live nearby. Back in the day I used to see a Fred Gibb drag car at Cordova Dragstrip and at the time didn't realize what I was watching. After I grew up a little more and bought my 69 Camaro and really started researching the history of the COPO and ZL1 did I realize what I had seen. Thank you for bringing a little of the great past into today.

Why did you guys leave the SS on the front but yet have ZL1 painted on the hood crowl. I would think you would remove the SS badging as now the car looks confused as what it is.

That car belongs to Robert and Nancy Lionberger. There was an article written about him and his involvment with Fred Gibb, in the current issue of "Super Chevy"

Bob installed the ZL1 emblems on his own car and chose to leave the SS emblems in place.

Since General Motors Corporation is producing a ZL1 Camaro for 2012, we will be selling 50, 45th anniversary Fred Gibb edition ZL1s. The 45th anniversary is to commemorate when Fred first started Drag Racing "Little Hoss" the 1967 Z28. The number 50 is to commemorate the number of ZL1's Fred initially ordered back in late 1968.
