A smaller wheel/tire will compromise the top end performance.
I am o.k. with that - I don't plan on driving at 200 MPH.

A LARGER wheel/tire combo will do the opposite of what I listed, above.

It all depends what you want. Some people want to look good. Some want to go fast.

I want handling and power and have an excess of both. I don't care about looks.
I hear ya on all points, except I'm not planning on SCCA. I'm seriously looking at 19's except I'm having a hard time finding out how the speedo is calibrated. Is it something the dealer can do or is it factory only? Can a tuner shop do it? Anybody know?

Yes, 19's or 22's will throw off the speedo, unless the tire diameter is the same. It should have a different diameter, that's the reason to go with a different tire/wheel setup. look for tire calculators in a google search. Some of them will tell you how much your speedo will be off from the original.

I replaced my factory RS 20" Wheels & rims.
I put on GM factory 19" Pzero-245/50ZR19 & GM factory 19" polished rims.
The circumference is 5/8" smaller on the 19" tires.

What profile would you get on the 19" ?

I guess my speedo is off,but I am not going to do anything about it.

I would like the same profile, about 40 so that would make the tire smaller and a lower height. It's not so much the speed; I can figure that out easily enough. What I'm concerned about (and want to avoid) is the inaccuracy of the odometer. I don't want it showing more miles than I've actually driven because it's calculating it wrong.

You will show more miles with smaller Dia. tires.
I did read somewhere that the dealer can adjust the speedo to the new tire size. BUT I do not know if that is true !
Someone here should come up with that answer.

BTW I like the look of smaller rims (more retro looking) I don't like the low profile look that is why I changed tires.
To me nice after market 18" rims with 50 or 55 profile tires would be the best looking & a little softer ride.. But I don't like the GM 18" alum. rims. ...Thats just MY opinion.

I believe all of the popular tuning software packages will allow you to correct the speedometer for tire diameter changes...or at least they used to.

You also have th eoption of going with 21". We offer 19", 20", and 21" Monoblocs which will be lighter then your factory wheels and still be able to give you a nice looking larger wheel and keep your weight down. Our 20's weigh 21lbs in the front and 23lbs in the rear.

YES & NO

I personally want a bit more meat on my muscle car, that's why I am going with the 20" LS7 wheels.

But I also love big rims and the 22's look hot on this car. If you get a nice set of light-weight wheels and the right size tires you will be fine with unsprung weight and also not affect your speedo!

22s don't even look big on this car... They fit the car perfectly

we're so used to 20s now it will only be a couple of years before we equate 20 with small. I had a pontiac formula with 16s and they @ the time seemed huge....

In the teens, twenties & thirties cars had LARGE RIMS then went down to 14" on almost ALL cars in 1957.
So we MAY go back again to SMALLER rims nobody knows

You can only get so big maybe 22" to 28"
THEN.................
If in the GETTO goes to SMALL rims, YOU may want those COOL small rims............. It might take many years for that to happen.

To me 18" on the 2010 Camaro is the right size !!
