Sounds like that they gave it a tune and retained your warrentee.

That does sound probable. I really hope GM has an aftermarket tune that allows you to maintain factory warranty.

It sounds like a very dramatic change and not possible by what you decribed was done??

What did they do exactly to the car that you know of??
Well what I think what is happening is 2 part.

1. Engine getting more broke in.
2. Maybe it is learning the Octane but real slow.

My car started doing 6.2 0-60 at about 3000 miles. At almost 4000 miles it is running high 5's. Now it is running real good. Today driving around town not even half throttle from a stop light with traction off the car would spin the tires.

I hope it stays this way. I also hope they do come out with something for as rich as the cars do run. They said mine was running rich. I could gain even more HP and TRQ if they fixed that issue.

Scott,
I like what you are saying! but something was "stopping it up" Like a bad drain or something. I believe your computer had an issue but they got it on track now. Still what happens if you have to use low octane gas again? Will it go back to fast or stay slow you know?

Scott, I am glad you got it figured out. You had me worried so I tested my LS3 just incase it had the same problem. It ran zero to sixty in 4.7 seconds. It was about 72 degrees when I ran it. My car seems to run great. Take care.

Well if the computer learns slow I think this would be a HUGE problem that can cause serious engine damage!!! If the learn is so slow if you put low octane gas in a car that has been running high octane the change to the computer is CRITICAL to prevent damage due to knocking from the lower octane. If this is the case I see some problems on the horizon!

Scott actually already talked about that on page 1, and it's not a concern in the other direction. To quote:
Quote:
They said if the car runs low octane gas it will right away reduce the timing to keep from knocking. Then they said if you start running high octane it will slow take away the timing retardation and the car will get more HP.
So, design behavior is immediate pulling of timing on low octane, and then gradually re-instating the timing as better gas is used.

Did they just simply put 93 octane in and do a reset of the computer? If so, how did they do the reset? I see alot of speculations but no real answer.

here is something to think about,, i just drove vin# 31,6?? L99 with only 5 miles on it and i can tell you it is much faster than my car was when mine was stock(vin 10,789)

turned traction off and this car would light up the tires from a dead stop like no tomorrow, and when getting on it at slow speeds it is much peppier than my car was.

my car would not light the tires up when it was stock
