lol, maybe if i had a 1970 Chevelle SS i'd definitely be blasting!

Oh and if it did use our food and water.. it could take us back in time if we go 88 miles per hour... with Mr Fusion package LOL.

she couldn't press the button when she was being jacked, and the car was only crashed at the end of the police chase, so the auto-onstar activate didn't do much...

This is in response to people thinking that carrying a gun while driving is a great idea. If you imagine the situation of how a carjacking takes place (instantly) there's no scenario where you're going to be able to get your gun out on an armed carjacker without being at least shot yourself.
Yes I do and on the second point, thats why I said let him get in first if you have too.
If people are allowed to just take whatever the F they want when they want then that is what they will continue to do.

Just like Liberty is not a gift or something to take for granted neither is defending yourself.

If you're outside the car getting into the car: He will come up behind you and say give me your keys. He will have a gun on you. If you try to pull out a gun he will shoot you. If you hand him your keys and somehow still have a gun on you that he didn't see you may have a shot on him when he gets in the car. This would require you have a concealed weapon license and otherwise be a paranoid person with a gun in their coat at all times.

If you're inside the car: He will approach your side window with a gun. If you reach for the glove box he will likely shoot you. If you reach for anything anywhere he will likely shoot you. If you hit the throttle you may have a chance to get away but he might shoot at you for not listening to him. You may be able to shoot him if you get out of the car and you already have the gun on you hidden. This again would require a concealed weapon permit and for the gun to already be on your person.

In conclusion, for all you people wanting to shoot carjackers, you will need to have a gun on you practically at all times to keep your car safe. You still take a risk of getting shot when fighting back as well. A gun in the car somewhere will NOT help you and will more than likely be found by a passenger(kid) then it will save you in a carjacking.

Or you could just give them the car and get it back when the police track it down and not risk your life.

I'm glad to hear she was ok! One word comes to mind for stolen cars and with the ease of disabling On Star...... LoJack!

I agree with Stoutfiles..... point well said! To add to that.... IF you get the opportunity to actually kill the carjacker, then you'll also have the opportunity to explain to a jury why you didn't just let them take the car! We have the right to carry a gun but not the right to kill (outside the time of war), so even if you are defending yourself...... you'll still have to prove that in court! That said...... I wish all thieves caught in the act could disappear from the face of the earth for good!

Just a little off topic but the thing that sux about here in MD, it is next to impossible to get a CCW permit but these common street thugs can brandish guns and threaten law abiding citizens and just shoot random people for no reason at all and we have no way to protect ourselves or our loved ones. The first thing I do when I finally move back to PA is go to the sheriff office and fill out my paperwork for my CCW.
I was talking to some people in the area who knew about the situation since I work ten miles from where they left the car. It appears she did get out using the trunk release...Great Job!

I am sure it is a scary ordeal. I believe she was not harmed, just shooken up a bit. It does show the better you know your vehicle the better chances you have in stressful situations such as this one.

The area she was taken is not known for wide open roads at the time she was jacked. Everyone should practice using the features of the car just in case you might need it at some point.

I am not knocking her, so please do not take it that way.

I was checking out more on this situation and here is what the latest information reported:

By JOHN HENREHAN/myfoxdc
LORTON, Va. - Police say the man accused of forcing a 46-year-old Virginia woman into the trunk of her car at the Metro stop has been in trouble before.

According to authorities, 22-year old Diallo Outing, of Oxon Hill, Maryland, has been denied bond in connection with charges of carjacking, abduction, and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Police say Outing is the man who pulled a gun in the busy parking garage at the Springfield-Franconia Metro station and stealing the victim's 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.

The woman told police she was kept in the trunk of her car for about an hour before her assailant let her out along a gravel road in Lorton, Virginia. The victim, without her purse, without money, and without her cell phone, knocked at the door of Nancy Pugh. <---- I see why OnStar wasnt called....hmmmmm

"She said she'd been abducted," recalled Pugh. "And she kept talking about a man with a gun and her car was stolen."

Pugh called 911, and police flooded the neighborhood. When cruisers attempted to stop the stolen car, its driver fled, crashing the vehicle. The suspect escaped on foot.

A canine unit found Outing nearby just before midnight.

According to Maryland court records, Outing has been in trouble before. He pleaded guilty in Prince George's County in connection with a robbery committed in January of 2008. Outing was sentenced to 10 years incarceration in that case, but all but 18 months of the sentence was suspended. <---Prince George County at their best!!!

Im happy they got the young dumb bastage!!!
