You want to save fuel in this country???? Maybe they should take a look at why there is so much traffic congestion. No matter what the mileage rating of any vehicle, you don't get any MPG's sitting in traffic. |

less cars on the road = less fuel burned (good!) less cars on the road = less congestion (convienient) less congestion = better fuel economy for everyone else (also good) better fuel economy + fewer cars driving = less demand for oil less demand for oil = lower price (keeps getting better) lower price = more people driving (uh oh . . .) more people driving = more congestion and more fuel burned more congestion = worse fuel economy it becomes a nonlinear system with negative feedback. Hmm, I might have gone off topic with this . . .

Worldwide demand has only increased 2%.
Oil price is up considerably higher. (500% by Ed Wallace's account) |

Hey man and to everybody. This is just a crisis it has happened in the 80's it will go away it always does history repeats its self. and gas was 4.19 2 weeks ago and now its 3.92 in arizona its gone down 20 cents in 2 weeks its amazing in my opinion, becuase we all have been waiting for it to go down and it if would have been gone UP 20 cents in 2 weeks we would have been crying about it even me. the thing is with such a price drop it could be getting better if it goes down 20 more cents in 2-3 weeks we are back at 3.70 a gallon wich is fine with me. it can also go back up but if it were such a crisis why would they drop it 20 cents? This crisis could be going away.......but slowly or maybe it isn't and they just cut us some slack on gas for this month.

the 70's was a real crisis, and a real shortage, where you could not get gas when you wanted it, and there were long lines
what's happening right now is just high prices, it's not a crisis, you can still get gas when you want to there were real lines, stations with NO gas, and ones that had gas, had limits

Well, one more idiot 's voice is now heard.
The Camaro is not doomed, GM is not doomed. We've been told to keep the faith and have done it so far. Keep it up everyone and we'll soon have the next classic car on lots, then on the street, track, and in our names! |

There is a Troll under almost ever bridge and if you give them the opportunity to come out from under the bridge and have a voice, you're probably not gonna like what they have to say. Having said that, everyone has the right to an opinion. What do we know about this guy? Below is what www.ericpetersautos.com is willing to tell us about him. IMO this guy is simply a gun for hire writing for anyone who will provide him with a soap box to stand on, a pay check big enough to make it worth his while and an opinion that falls in line with the flavor of the day.
You would have thought that someone who has written for the likes of the Wall Street Journal and a number of other financial related rags would have also been subjective enough to talk about what is really behind the high gas prices. How about writing "Exxon rapes consumers to the tune of 20 billion dollars while putting thousands out of work." or "Exxon's gain has been GM's lose, there's trouble in paradise" or "Oil Industry vs. Auto Industry, the nasty divorce" "Eric Peters is an automotive columnist and author who has written for the Detroit News and Free Press, Investors Business Daily, the Chicago Tribune and Wall Street Journal. He is currently a regular contributor to America Online, The Car Connection, Bottom Line Personal Finance Army Times, Classic American (UK) and American Airlines in-flight magazines, "American Way" and "Celebrated Living". His most recent book, "Automotive Atrocities", was published in 2004 by Motorbooks International. A sequel, "They Coulda Been Contenders", is in the works. Peters currently owns a Carousel Red 1976 Pontiac Trans-Am with a street/strip 455 V-8 under the hood - as well as a restored 1976 Kawasaki Kz900 with a 1015 cc big bore kit, an '03 Kawasaki ZRX1200R and an '00 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa. He has owned a number of old/odd machinery over the years, including a '64 Corvair Monza coupe, '73 VW Thing, '69 VW Squareback and rusted-out '78 Camaro with Gabriel hi-Jacker air shocks, peeling Keystone Classic mags and glasspack exhaust. He's been full-time freelance since the late '90s, lives in the boonies of rural Southwest Virginia with his wife and various animals, won't have a cell phone - and shuns anything that smacks of an office or involves having to wear a suit and tie."
