Thanks for the heavy-weight shipping info. Hopefully, will be using that on the 3.73 diff soon.
Ha! Need to pay attention more I guess. Been busy at work more than usual and kids/family stuff. But summer is here now so it's car time.

Good luck on the sale of the diff. Happy that the shipping ideas gave you some options to consider. These ZL1 diffs are heavy pigs. Not easy to ship cheap. And right or wrong (thank you Amazon Prime) everyone expects cheap shipping.

Ha ha gotta love this forum! I've been reading along because I'm interested in doing a diff swap and I saw the comment "you just have smaller nuts". I almost choked!

Has anyone done this on a 2014? My oem SS hubs slide into the zl1 axle. So I don’t know if I should reuse those or just use the new ZL1 hubs that I bought thinking I needed them.

Yes, I have... the SS and ZL1 hubs fit the same... But the ZL1 have a wider beefier bearing (my understanding) I purchased my ZL1 hubs and axles used as a take off item. I chose to keep my SS hubs. and save the ZL1 hubs for later. I believe the hubs can also be used on the front.

Thanks fellas, I thought I read that I also needed the hubs so I bought them but I guess not. I'll keep them as extras and reuse the SS hubs.

So in some ways, I think the whole axle seal discussion is being overthought a bit. Have a look at it, it's a rubber seal like so many we've seen before. Holds in the thick diff fluid...not designed to be a submarine driveshaft seal holding 25000 psi at the bottom of the abyss. Make a good logical mechanic determination on it and move on. Some will/should need to be replaced. Others will likely be just fine.

At the end of the day...it's always good to replace a seal I guess. Just do it right. But don't overthink it either.
I wouldn't replace the seals if they showed no signs of leaking previous. But make sure the seal wasn't damaged on removal or install. I can't express this enough. look very closely at the seal inside rubber. I've seen people nick the seal with the splines or clips (can't remember if clips were on the these shafts splines). I haven't seen leaks on these differentials seals as very common. I work on GM cars daily and camaro's. Just be very carefully going in and coming out with the shaft in the differential.
