Thats what I am going to do.. There is hard plastic under that cloth. Remove the panels.. remove the cloth... prime.. sand.. and paint white.

Did the same thing to my last car.

I definitely want to do this on my 1SS. So, am I understanding correctly that the top ledge of the inserts on the 2SS have a clear top for the ABL; or does the ABL poke out from the gap between the dash and the insert? Since I have the cloth inserts it obviously won't be shining through them, but rather out the top. I mean, this stuff can't be THAT thick, right? I could just place it in the tiny gap between the insert and the dash.

On a second note, I'm pretty sure I don' have the wiring for the ABL in my 2011 1SS, so is it possible to draw power from the cluster gauge? If so, how? What about the doors?

So i guess this is just for the front. Is there a way to connect the front light tape and the doors to one transformer?

I wonder if, after sanding the opaque paint off of the edge, would applying a translucent / frosted paint to the sanded portion allow a softer glow.

for a sfter glow you would actually clear the sanded edge. The rougher surface makes the light look brighter. Acts as a difusser and throws the light inall directions.

Ahh. Dunno why I didn't realise that, I used to play around with light diffusion when I was a kid when I noticed that those clear yellow clipboards looked like they had glowing edges.
