Running in a general term since the carbs are completely out of adjustment - the float height is completely off so tuning is pretty much impossible at the moment. But... she actually starts and runs now.

I'm learning to ride. Hubby bought me a Yamaha V-Star 1100 Custom w/ lowering kit, Cobra pipes and jet pack year before last. She was actually the original "Rosie". I was comfortable on it height/balance wise but I soon discovered I needed something I could start out slow with. There was no "start out slow" on that bike. You open the throttle and it WENT lol. Soo, as bad as I hated to do it, I had to trade it in for a lil bike to learn on. I got a brand new '09 Yamaha V-Star 250 (sorry 2ndGenz, no more Viragos). I really enjoy riding it and hopefully, when I feel more experienced, I can trade up and get me something bigger and nicer. For now I'll be content to get my cool points in "Rosalee", my 'maro.

Did you try the V-Star 650? That's what my gf rides and opening the throttle doesn't make you fly off the seat! Especially coming off of my Suzuki GSX-R750!

cool bikes!

Hubby has one. It's a wee bit too tall for me as a novice (I'm 5' 2.5") and, to me, it feels heavier than the 1100. I thinks it's because all the weight is in the top of it, whereas the 1100 had a low center and felt more balanced. Eventually, once I'm a more experienced rider, I could probably handle it, but for now I'll stick with "Edna" (named for my tiny little great aunt, she was small but feisty and always lots of fun lol).

Interesting. My GF is 5' 3" and it's a perfect balance for her. Well, glad you found something fun! Enjoy!

I have as big of a problem with Quads & Harleys as I do with Cars.
Brute Force 650I, bored & stroked to an 840, gorilla axles, 4" lift, 28"x12" Mud Zilla's, MSA Trooper wheels, Full Big Gun Exhaust & a whole lot more. I'll attach video of us riding by the house. Might have some swear words in the video, can't remember. Mine's the black Brute with the Snorkles.
2006 Honda Trx 450r Max Power 511 kit, Max Power head, big web cams, 13.5-1 comp, HRC kit, Curtis Sparks head pipe with a crappy DG slip on. It's a death machine.
Wife has a Suzuki Vinson 500, 27" Maxxis Zilla's, 2" lift, HMF utility pipe, Dynojet kit.
3 year old son just got a little 50cc Chinese 4 wheeler, he can ride & just turned 3 on 12-12. He had an electric quad when he was 2.

1- 1972 Shovel Head Chopper, as you can see from the pic, it's from a few years ago, look at my avatar & the pic of the bike, many more tattoos now & the bike is 111" Andrews #6 Grind, Super G carb with dual thunder jets, a whole lot of jims & S&S parts.
2- Wife's old bike, my daily driver 02 883 Custom, S&S 89" Stroker Kit, very fun little bike that really pisses off the V-Rod owners.
3- Wife's new bike, 05 883 Custom Black Cherry Pearl, Stock. Couldn't find a pic of this bike on my computer & I'm in Libya right now.

Some of the pics are of the Chopper & Me 20+ years ago. A lot of these pictures don't show some of the new mods to my stuff, with 13 cars, 3 Harleys & 4 Quads, not much time for pictures & I spend about 8 month's out of the country working.

Some pics & video below.

The purple bike is my chopper, the red bike is now my Daily Driver. Back when the picture was taken the red bike was my wife's. The purple bike is now flat black with a 4" open belt, kick only, suicide shift, all old school. Been having it for 24 years now.

Springerpete, it's hard to tell from that angle, I'll dig up some other pix, but when it had the true Lester Invaders (that I still have ), also notice the front wheel is a spool, it was 18" over, when I went to the spokes & switched from a 19" wheel to a 21" wheel & lowered the back a little more it's now a 16" Over. Done the old way, that used to be a 72 FLHP P for Pig Bike . We were sitting around the shop, I had just gotten the bike it was in pieces, I also had a mint 72 XLCH high compression kick only sporty back then. We were drinking some Turkey & BS'ing & my buddy said do you want a chopper, so we cut the neck off, extended the back bone 4", then we put a pipe through the neck & put the torch to the back bone & started bending the neck up until it looked right, took the front end & put it on to measure & pulled it back off, put the pipe back through the neck & started heating again. After about 5 tried we got the rake where we wanted it, ended up having to put 6" of stretch in the downtubes. I ran the narrow glide forever, but always wanted a wide glide, so the last time I tore it down, I went wideglide & spokes, I always loved the real Lester Invaders, but the combination of the old school chromed bananna caliper that it used to have & no front brakes put me in a bind more than once.

Maybe at this angle you can see it's still a 16" over. I'm overcompensating for something.
