I hate front plates also, but there is some logic for having them on your car. say for instance your car gets stolen, you report it and the cops are out looking for your car. They see one like yours coming towards them but it has no front plate. They can either ignore it since it would be too much trouble turning around or they can turn around quickly and risk drawing the attention of the driver of the stolen car and catch back up then run the rear plate, but with a front plate they could get the number, call it in and be making the u-turn without drawing attention of the possible stolen vehicle driver. thus having a better chance of YOU getting your car back.
Just one case you would be glad you had a front plate on your car.

Hello, OnStar? My car was stolen. Kill it and tell me where it is. No, don't call the cops, I don't want any witnesses. Thank you.

if you know that a front plate is required, and you choose to ignore this, don't complain about getting a ticket. if you know that your tint is too dark and you choose to get it anyways, don't complain about getting a ticket. if you know the speed limit is 65 and you choose to go faster, don't compain about a ticket.

it's called personnal responsibility and living with the choices we make. if you don't like a law, get it changed.

Don't even get me started on changing laws and politics.. If you honestly think that's how the system actually works, then I want what you're on. Changing laws that are money makers is very difficult. There are whole groups of people that lobby (guess what they're called) to get certain laws enacted and revoked to suit their clients needs/wants.

People in Texas have been trying to get their front plate removed a long time. I know, I tried.. hell, I even started a petition on it and got upwards of 10,000+ signatures on it.. Did it do any good? Nope... I called and wrote Govt employees.. Any good? Nope.... It's a money maker.. Why would they give it up?

My last car I had for 8 years and never got a ticket for not having a front license plate. I wouldn't worry about it until you get a ticket.

Personally, I'd rather see police spending more time catching real criminals and not worrying about stupid little things like tint levels, front plates and other such petty infractions. Spend more time dealing with people excessively speeding, going way too slow on an interstate, people with parts hanging off their car and possibly causing road debris, people darting in and out of traffic.. You know. Something that might actually hurt someone.
WOW. Sorry that I touched a soft spot there. I love how you tell me if I want one go ahead, but then tell me not to fling aorund, It's just a plate.

I am so sorry that the license plate causes you so much grief.

There are people around that you can talk to you to help you with your problems here.

And it is just a car. A very nice one, that is a lot of fun to drive, but in the end it's a $35,000 car. (My truck cost more than my Camaro)

Personally, I'd like to see all the people on the forum complaining about the laws and the cops, and actually do something about it.

I can't tell if you're implying that I have psychological issues because I don't like a front plate, you're pointing me at my local govt rep or something else.. I'm really hoping it's not the first; that would be a bit extreme.

What if you don't subscribe to onstar after the first year?
Besides most people don't have anything like On-star on their cars..

Good point. But I was speaking for myself and what would happen if my G5 was stolen (Mr. Glock does not like thieves of any kind). It was more a feeble attempt at humor.

I almost let the OnStar expire after the first year but since I can't get OnStar cell minutes without it (and the minutes are horrendously expensive BTW) and I drive to areas where a cell phone has absolutely no bars for hours at a time (T-Mobile) and also that I have no spare (WTF is with that?) I decided to buy the 200 buck option and leave my CC number on file so I can upgrade in an emergency.

We bought this ride to do some traveling and OnStar is an important part of that but again, I do see your point.

The sad part is that LAPD doesn't care if I have front plates or not. it's the bitch meter maids that get me for front plates. I understand the reason for having front plates b/c people here run red lights all the time. For some reason, I just have a problem with a meter maid ticketing me.

A complete lack of taking personal responsibilty for one's own actions.....

That's what's wrong.

The following is not directed at any one person:

If you CHOOSE to do something that is against the law, then YOU must understand that there may be a CONSEQUENCE to that action. This CONSEQUENCE is no one's fault but YOUR OWN for making the choice that you did.

Off topic, may start a thread on this....Wonder how everyone feels about seat belt laws? Do you put them in the same catagory as the front plate laws? or do you think it is your own personal choice if you want to protect yourself?
