Did not want any part of the fuel managment thing. It just did'nt sit right with me to have a muscle car and not have all cylenders at all times.
To much extra stuff on the automatic to quiet down the AFM as far as the exhaust goes.
26 more HP.
A muscle car just seems more muscely(is that a word?) lol with a manual.
No stop and go traffic..all open roads.
Those are just a few of many reasons why I went with a manual. Oh,and it saved a few bucks too!!

A6 because I like to drag race and unless you are some kind of professional driver, the automatic will smoke the stick shift. It is much more consistent. Ask anyone that remembers the hemis in the 1960's. Most of them were Torqueflights.

AFM = active fuel management

When certain criteria is met, 4 of the cylinders shut down and the car only operates on those 4 until another set of criteria is met causing them to activate again. This is supposed to help improve gas mileage. This is only on the automatic transmission model.

#5. Wife can't drive it.

The first thing I get asked when people see my car is, "Manual, right?"
I'm not a knuckle dragger that bashes anyone's care, everyone has their reasons. It's their car.
Driving an auto is sooo nice though. Just couldn't do it with this car.

Hello everyone,

This is my first post but I couldn't resist. I come from the school of "sports cars are manual." I also love driving manual, it keeps me more focused and I am much more aware of the car, and yes that applies even in Dallas rush hour traffic.

A quick story, when I bought my daughter her first car, my primary requirement was that it be manual. I didn't want her to ever get stuck somewhere because she couldn't drive a friends car if something happened. She was in school and had made the comment about driving with three pedals. One of her less favorite class mates informs her that cars only have two pedals.

We still laugh about that today.

Cheers,
Teresa

Auto because its a daily driver, im not racing. I dont want to have to shift gears all the time.

It has manual mode with tapshift if I want to use it.

ETA: you only lose 0.1 of a second on the quartermile auto vs manual.

I like both. Have had both and have raced both. A well built auto is hard to beat, but an experienced manual driver can do very well too. I went with a manual solely because of resale value if I ever decide to sell the car. Around here the very first question from everyone is "Does that have the six speed manual?". It has been lots of fun to drive even though a short throw is definitely in my future and the skip shift has got to go!

I just don't get this view. It's not true anymore when cars like Porches, Ferrari, Lambos, Merc SLRs, and the Veyron for petes sake have paddle autos. I mean I understand if you like it better, I understand the manual fits the image of the car, but to say 'real' sports cars have manuals? Not anymore.

I just picked up my new manual 2SS today and I was torn between what transmission to purchase. As soon as I found out the auto had AFM my mind was made up, quickly. If I wanted a four cylinder car I would have bought a four cylinder car. They state that the transition is seamless and it isn't bad if you keep your car bone stock but as soon as you change the exhaust I guarantee it isn't so seemless anymore. I once owned a pretty sweet Accord coupe that I put togeather and I sold it simply because I couldn't stand the AFM system, drove me nutz.
Driving my new 6 speed manual home today I knew I was driving a authenic muscle car, damn thing is plain mean. Beding honest though, I wouldn't want to sit in stop and go traffic everyday with this thing. Then again, I don't see this car as my daily driver. My 2cts............Rich
