I forgot to put the fuse in the sub line, but i had everything already put in the car. I was able to flip the carpet up, take off the spare tire cover, and insert the fuse. It wasn't bad. The carpet kept flipping back down though. The carpet is only like 1/8 thick, so its not a problem, just a pain.

The actual instruction manual was scanned in and linked in this thread somewhere. Not a hard install at all, provided you don't have custom trunk mats.

That is just the English instructions. If you need another language (French or Spanish) i got the whole packet, I can scan in a different language.

Factory or not Factory?

Does any one in the Austin,TX area have a Camaro with the GM subs already installed in it? I am really torn between going with the GM package, or just building my own sub and amp combo.. I would like to hear how it sounds with the GM package before I decide.

I do not. I plan on putting in a non factory enclosure because as I said in another post you can to a lot better either for the same money or for less money. Plus I think the factory sub looks like an addon after thought.

Ps where you located?

Cheers

Sorry, didnt realize that wasnt on my profile. Im in Austin. My only concern with going with non factory was tapping into the wiring.(and keeping all the other factory audio) Not sure why, I did it with a sub on a mustang we use to own, ( maybe I care more about this car)

you can easily tap into the factory low level signal running to the factory amp with a pair of RCA's solder in your leads in (we always use the front inputs but either will work the same.)

The factory sub upgrade took up too much room for my liking - did a 1000 watt Kenwood amp and 2 12" mtx and all the wiring and custom boxes for under 500 - it went in supper easy. (1 sub in each back corner of the trunk
I just redid my boxes so I am saving the showing for the Fest in GA or I would post pics. I will after
Bottom line it was an easy install like everyone said and no the radio does not lock up. Not for me anyway.
But here is a pic of the amp up and out of the way.

You can do as IAS suggests or wait a couple weeks until Steve at ******** gets the connector in and then plug and play. That is what I am doing.

12" ICON sub
125.2 SDA amp
******** enclosure
Total: $696

Install kit
Connector to factory harness
Total: maybe $200 depends on the cost of the connector and where I source my amp kit.

So for maybe $896 (the $506 is actual cost with shipping) I get a monster 12" woofer with min 400wrms amp (closer to 500wrms) in a nicer enclosurer that is almost double the factory mtx for not too much more money.

Comparison like that the MTX does not seem the way to go.
Cheers

I found the ******** site lastweek.. I was really leaning towards that box he makes... I emailed him last night about a connector. looks like you got a handle on that already.. Guess I can hold on that project and move to exhaust first. good call on no comparison 12s vs. the mtx 10s.

I'm try to get some clarification because I want to do a sub/amp combo.
I noticed in the scanned instructions that the rear speakers are being tapped into.

Is this MTX system taking the BASS away from the stock speakers so they act more like components?
