The windsheild isn't anything special. The only difference is that the ones for the HUD passed a clarity test so there was no ghosting. The bottom line is that a non-HUD windsheild is mechanically no different and can display just as well as one for the HUD. The worst thing you can get is some ghosting which wasn't bad on the one I installed that had it. Besides if your windsheild ever needs to be replaced you just have to tell them it's HUD model. It was about 100 more or the same with insurance.
