Here's an idea.

have this "item" on stage covered. In front of the crowd let FbodFather come up on stage and get a look at it but don't let the crowd see it. But, the crowd has to be able to see Fbod's reaction to it. If it's as good as you say it is then Scott won't be able to hide his.... concern. Scott gets the first bid, uncover it, then it's off to the races....
