My dealership did the EXACT SAME THING to me. They won't do anything about it, so i'm paying money out of my ass to get the glasscoat cut out of the clear, re-buffed, and re-cleared.

I had swirls and a few scratches before i took it there, but it was not even half as bad as it was when it left. Not only do i have swirls and scratches stuck in the paint now because of the glasscoat they put on there (and their wonderful buffing) But the glasscoat is dis-colored horribly. Car almost looks gray in certain spots. Oh, they also tried buffing the car after-wards. One problem, buffing glasscoat makes the swirls WORSE. I didn't know that until after the fact.

Sounds like you finally have a solution
You would be surprised. I found out from a guy who quit a detail/body shop attached to a dealership that he was given a 4 hour limit (that time includes to get it ready for buffing, cleaning the car, ect.) on cars. He had to stop doing what he was doing when the limit was up, they give back un-finished work, his boss would tell him to not worry about the job done.

They don't care about you're car, just the money they make off of you.

Plus, they pretty much told me to "go pound sand". They knew they ****ed up, but they got REALLY defensive. Told me that they did the best they could, which by anymeans was a shit job, and that i'm pretty much shit out of luck for getting it fixed. They only re-funded me the money for the glasscoat (after a few days of them playing stupid). Which will help a little, but it is going to cost a few thousand dollars to get the car to look new again. I will never, EVER, drop my car off at a dealership EVER again. One time i took it there for a service check and i noticed they put 35 miles on the car....

I'd love to hear what you think is going on here?

Sounds/looks to me like the OP took his vehicle to a Chevrolet Body Shop(which is a direct repair shop of his Insurance company) expecting to have his Chevrolet properly repaired and they failed miserably. Not a surprise seeing that 99.99% of dealer body shops specialize in doing sub-standard work. Especially when a company like Allstate is paying what they feel is adequate to fix it. Sound like a double failure to me. It is so obvious that this car was damaged by improper wash technique and for the Allstate Adjuster to say that's "normal" just goes to show you how poorly some Insurance companies train their appraisal staff. I don't know who is more pathetic here; the Body Shop or the Insurance Company? I say the OP contacts the Alex Sink @ The Department of Insurance and register a complaint against Allstate seeing that they aren't standing behind the damage their Direct Repair Shop created. http://www.myfloridacfo.com/consumers/civil_remedy.htm

I like this idea.
cheap, easy to do. MASSIVE publicity damage.
but is it legal?
Do this and he can sue for libel. "$600 damage" is subjective and is your opinion (which I happen to agree with). But in his mind, there is "$0 damage". You need to work it out with him, not with him and the public at large. You can sue him, just don't hurt his business.

Being that the GM of Phil Smith Chevrolet never returned my calls, and they have since refused to provide warranty service for my Camaro, I see no reason to avoid informing as many people as I can about what happened there.

I actually already cleared that phrase with an attorney, and have the documentation to back up the $ amount.

Other than officially canceling my Allstate policy today, nothing new.

I will take a look at that allstateinsurancesucks.com though.

Well here's another little update.

My Camaro is still in the shop, they are just waiting on the clear bra guy to come out.
Today makes 28 days total between the two shops.

The fun part is that Friday a full week after canceling my Allstate policy they sent be a bill, for $762.30

What's funny is that they never changed how much they where taking out of my bank account each month, and never sent me any kind of refund for when they took the comprehensive and collision off of my policy and retroactively applied those changes back to August due to an error on their part.

And now are saying that because of adding the comprehensive and collision (that should never have been removed) and retroactively applying it to the policy (even though I had been paying them as if I still had those coverages) that I now owe them money...

But they did say that $200 of that $762.30 was from when I changed my address two weeks before canceling my policy.
(That was actually the 3rd time I had to change my address with them, every time I called they still had my old address on file.)

I hate Allstate.

Alarick i feel your pain I'm in the panhandle of Florida and in my area there are only 2 good paint and body shops, but for some reason none of the dealerships use them because they hate being proved wrong. A few years back i had a Black srt-10, paint was junk the front bumper was peeling etc. The dealership took care of the issue with a twist lol, the front bumper had quite the sparkle because the body shop added copper flake to the paint or used a dirty gun. The dealership wouldn't fix it so i destroyed them in court and made them the laughing stock of the state. You will be fine they always get theirs in the end. RLTW !

Pretty much talking with a couple attorneys, they are trying to find the best way to get things accomplished.

The first attorney is a friend of a friend, and the second attorney is his friend, so it's not moving as quickly as it would had I dropped down $2k on their desks...
