why ugly city?

That is the LA River. The bridge in photo 4 is the 6th street bridge. It is right along side a very active Union Pacific rail yard in downtown Los Angeles. These pictures must have been take around 5am since that is about the only time you can get the streets that empty. Beautiful photographs.
