Your buddy gets you apple computers for below cost? Is it new or used? They're pretty draconian about only selling through authorized dealers.

Depends on which you want? 470 or 480? The 470's can be purchased right now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...tx+470&x=0&y=0

Spin the knob a little faster and go by letter.

And yeah, I guess 20 songs is easier to search but is it easier to search through a stack of CD's looking for a song you want to hear?

I guess cassettes would be even easier because you'd be hard pressed to fit 20 full tracks on one.

And it couldn't be that I don't like giving apple my money so they can use it on a bunch of frivolous lawsuits.

Nah, I just havent used any of their stuff.

Same goes with OSX btw. I don't like my options being limited to what uncle steve thinks I'll need/want.
I'm not sure what you mean about "MY" software. Get a developer's license and you can load your own applications. Or jailbreak and use Cydia.

Frivolous lawsuits? If you're talking about the lawsuits against HTC then you're wrong as they have genuine merit.

How are your options limited at all on OS X? Just curious.

Wow! So many apple haters on here. Amazing!

Are there so many of you because you've just had limited contact with MAC OSX and therefore just don't understand how to use it? It's just a "different" operating system. It's fundamentally the same as Window's. There are really only minor differences. You just have to learn those differences. It'd be no different than someone who was an apple user their entire lives and switched to a PC.

I've been a PC user ever since I began using computers in the mid 90's. That is until I bought my first macbook back in November.

My company gave me an IBM think pad to use out in the field. What a P.O.S. I chose to bring my macbook instead because it doesn't crash.

unibody aluminum frame? ftw
7 hour battery? ftw
gorgeous screen? ftw
back lit keyboard to use while laying on my cot in a dark tent? ftw

My macbook does everything that my work laptop does, but it does it better, faster, and comes in a much neater, and lighter package.

And yeah, the whole right click vs left click argument is stupid. The track pad on my macbook does both and simultaneously has less moving parts as my thinkpad.

And yes, I've used Ubuntu. I like it as well, but Ubuntu doesn't make computers that I'm aware of.

I'll be a fan of apple products until they start pulling a Toyota on us.

Um, tracking would be them looking at your email and storing details about it. Nothing is stored with AdSense. It's a machine that just looks for keywords and plucks out some items accordingly. Not to mention I've never seen any ads in the default Android OS, apps from the marketplace, yes, but never in Android itself.

what im saying is, you want to listen to one particular song, you have to search for it. If the artist begins with P you have to go though every letter until your at P to find your song. theres not direct way to get to it. If GM would develop something like sync or I drive, etc, where you just ask it to play your song, then sure its easier. But on a Gm vehicle, Not so much. Where if you have it on a cd, you know which track it is. I have a favorite set of songs that sorta changes, and when it does. I simply burn a new cd. Listen to that until I get bored, and so on. 100 cds for 20 bucks lasts me a good 3 months. Quite simple in fact.

No ubuntu doesn't make a computer nether does windows. apple is the only OS that makes a pre-packaged computer i know of. But saddly in 6 months when the new 24" macs are outdated since computers are out dated the day you buy it how will you upgrade it like we pc users do? Arent you very limited as to what can fit in the all in one design? and i still to this day dont under stand why the new macs keyboard looks like it was made for a net book. But im to use to my huge gaming design keyboards. I will say if i had the money i would love to have a mac to do music with garage band is amazing.

+1
exactly... people who bash on apple are people that are unfamiliar with their software. Try using a Macbook for 2 weeks then go back to you laptop PC. you'll trash the PC b4 it can start up.

I'm not going to need to upgrade it for quite a while. It has plenty of processing power. And anyway, if I need to, I can pop the back case open and upgrade RAM, replace my battery, even upgrade to a larger hard drive.

Since I didn't buy my macbook for a gaming rig, I'm not worried about having the latest invidia graphics card or a gaming keyboard.

Garage band is an incredible program.
