another question....

I have been reading the instructions for uploading the boot image over at the Kenwood forums and got the part about saving my settings first.

Question is this.....after the upload and reboot will the Metra/Kenwood remember my vehicle type and steering wheel controls????

i ask because the bad thing about the metra is after putting the dash back together you can't see the LEDs on the Interface which seems to be a requirement to reteach the Metra which radio you have installed.....

also i could not get the Kenwood to do the original bootup while the Metra was pluged up.....I had to boot then plug in the Metra..................

Yes, it should retain the controls. It has nothing to do with anything. Even changing out your deck will retain the controls to whatever they are set for. Just if you change from a Kenwood to lets say Pioneer, the codes Metra is sending will be Kenwood instead of Pioneer since you didn't reprogram it. It's like a universal remote. you can program it for 1 TV, if you do anything that TV or even swap the TV, your remote still retains the same codes/controls for what you last programmed it to do.

It also should boot just fine with the Metra installed. I had no problems with booting.
