You obviously have NO idea what I am saying and are being totally defensive and now trying to offend me personally. Thats mature!

The 6 and the 8 are in the exact same market stop trying to make the 6 this major eco box now. The SS will probably get near 28-30 mpg hwy in the real world so that is plenty good for most people.

I like to ENJOY cars, if all you guys are worried about is what people think of the look of your car then sure get the V6. I would be buying this car for the cheap performance in the SS. You can't buy that kinda performance for under 40k (Maybe the Evo but that is close to 40k) . The v6 performance can be had in an 18k civic si.

And although i said this would be a toy, meanin I know it isnt a practical car all around, it would still be my DD and probably my only car (other then my fiances car). Im not so rich but yes I can afford 30k vs 24k. Its a no brainer to me, but the V6 is fine for those that aren't looking for more then a "normal" performing car. Which is TOTALLY fine. Get what you what, bc i have settled for too many other things thus far in my life and I want the SS.

I can't afford the V8 price, and the V8 gas mileage. So, I am glad the V6 is an option.

Ya this coming from one guy that speculates that the hard core enthusiast will only have just the SS. You really don't know what El's is in his or her garage.

You will be surprised when the SS comes out how good it gets. The vette pulls off 32 mpg cruising at 70 mph on the highway. This camaro SS should get around 28-30. If the V6 gets 32-33 then I don't really see the benefit.

Also with oil now about to sneak under $60 a barrel you will see $2 gallon gas in the next few months. The Dollar is so strong right now with the turmoil in the world that this isn't going to change overnight either since oil is traded in the USD.

93 octane is already at $2.40 here where I am and regular is about $2.30. So saving 10 cents and getting 2 mpg more highway just isn't enough that it would really add up. If you don't think you can afford the SS just because of gas costs make sure you do your math first and you will see it isn't going to be that much difference.

Now if you can't stay off of the SS's happy pedal then yea you won't be able to afford 5 mpg lol

I am not surprised. I am aware of the gas mileage difference potential. That doesn't change the fact that the V6 still gets better gas mileage. It also doesn't mean gas prices won't be soaring back up anytime in the near future.

Finally, the price of the car is a big difference as well. All of that leads to money savings.

I figure I can get a V8 or I can get a V6 and a hot tub for the house...

Initial cost about evens up and over time hot tubs elec will be much less then gas and insurance differences.

I'm guessing your average stripper doesn't know weather she's sitting in a 6 or an 8 just that its a cool car, but she'll love the hot tub... yeah I'm single.

Threads like this shouldn't be made. We are supposed to support both not alienate people because some jerk needs to put down a lesser model to make himself feel better. I had both for a long time. V6 as a daily and V8 as fun car. Nothing wrong with either. Don't mean to offend anyone. When someone bashes one car I find things wrong with their car just to shut them up. I just get annoyed at the bashing of one car just because it's not something you want. Don't like it, don't buy it. I plan on repeating the cycle again and getting the 5th gen V6 as a daily to replace my gone V6 daily. I can easily afford the V8, but have absolutely no use for the extra power in my daily.

No it's straight. Your intention wasn't meant to be malicious to anyone that's planning on getting a V6 which again there's nothing wrong with at all, I just think some people haven't realized that the V6 isn't going to be as quick as they think it's going to be. Although for its class it will be quick. Both the V6 and V8 are stellar performers, it just comes down to what you want. and with the V6 and V8 you do get a little of both...

I can't believe anyone would come and bash the V6 on their own forum. Geez, I'm 52 yrs old and I have had the BIG V8 pulling the wheels off the ground and I'm probably going to be getting the V6 and lots of options. I have a wife and a house payment to make. I'm not someone who needs to get pulled over by john law every week. Been there done that. If anything age will bring wisdom to the V8 drivers who just want to pull everyone out of the hole at every redlight. I'm glad they offered the V8 for camaro's. I have owned a couple of 69 Camaro's and loved them both. I had one with a 307 and my other one I had my uncle help me build and it wasn't nothing but a ticket getter. I don't really want to be paying for speeding tickets and improper takeoffs every month. This 2LT V6 will be my everyday driver and I'll be happy to have it.

I think the group pretty much agrees. If you don't want it, don't get it. If you want it and you want to add in your own 2 cents, go ahead. But, stuff like this gets old and repetative quickly.
