On another note. Lim told me he hopes to have the OBD2 up and running for 4.0 in the next month or two.
Guess it will be closer to two to three months based on his reply to me email.

I'm pretty sure there isn't one, otherwise, why would the mic have to come from your phone?

This head unit has been nothing but an absolute pain in the ass.

Fitment isn't that great... the gap around the radio can be hidden with some well placed weather stripping or electrical tape, and if you have the gauge pack, it's a TIGHT fit.... the long thin pins on the back of the radio face can easily be bent during installation, so be extremely careful. Spacers must be used to ensure that the "brain" / DVD portion of the head unit sits out far enough for the pins from the radio face to properly insert and power/control the unit.

Constant lockups, frequent emails back and forth with China over a 7 month period, multiple hoops jumped through to get things semi-functional, including being asked to open the CAN BUS module and desoldering a resistor that was soldered installed at the factory incorrectly.... finally we got the Android 4.0 update for US headunits and things looked good; but then we ran into screen resolution/size issues & loss of all Heat/AC control. After an extremely rude email response China finally explained to us about the "secret system menu" and how to access resolution and canbus settings. Everything seems to be working properly, unless Bluetooth is used.... then the system locks up while streaming audio.

Issues experienced in the beginning:
  • random & frequent lock-ups while using the radio, DVD, GPS, Android Apps, etc.
  • front camera input not functional.
  • Bluetooth & GPS not responding.
  • DVD player not playing video.
  • Seat warmer level led indicators not functional
  • resistor improperly soldered to CANBUS board - Was asked to fix it ourselves
  • Radio control knob doesn't change station.
  • DVD, Navi, Radio buttons not launching proper apps.
  • Radio tuner app crashes or locks up.
  • 100% memory usage errors
  • 7 month wait for promised Android 4.0 update

Issues experienced after installing Android 4.0 update:
  • Screen size cut in 1/2
  • Heat/AC controls no longer functional
  • prolonged use of Bluetooth causes lock-ups. (streaming music during a drive or a long phone call)

Current status (with Android 4.0) after jumping through a few more hoops:
  • Radio Control knob functional
  • Heat & AC controls functional
  • Screen resolution normal ("HD")
  • DVD Player Functional
  • DVD, Radio, Navi buttons now functional.
  • Front camera functional.
  • Random lock-ups almost completely gone.
  • 100% memory usage seems to be under control.
  • Bluetooth locks up entire head unit if used for 10+ minutes.
  • Ads flash on screen during boot-up. (annoying)
  • Radio App crashes on startup & must be relaunched after waiting.

Sorry to hear you have had so many issues. I have been very pleased with my radio. I still have a few thinks I would like to do on it that I just haven't had time to look in to. Those are things that the stock radio didn't do anyway so they are really not that big a deal.

Has anybody attempted to get ODB apps to work using a USB cable rather than bluetooth?

I got an email this morning from lim that the obd2 now works with android 4. I don't have one yet so can't test. I'd be interested if someone that has it could test it and let us know.

On a side note I have not experienced any of the issues that fng has had.

Do you need an external bluetooth module for this? I mean to plug in the unit. I have the OBDII dongle with bluetooth.

I wouldn't think so since the radio has bluetooth and now works with android 4

OK. I was able to confirm that the new patch you can download works. Torque app now works with the 4.0 system.

You do need a bluetooth dongle for this to work.

I also tried this update. Put downloaded files on sdcard (unzipped and in root).
Followed the instructions (sdcard in slot - reset) and system shuts down like you should push the on-off button and nothing happens.
Video of this (you can also hear the terrible noise coming of the speakers) http://youtu.be/-Viuc91-f7s

Issues after installation.

I have the Boston Acoustics in the SS. So I had to switch to RCA plugs.
From the moment the unit powers, there is a terrible noise coming from all speakers all the time.
http://youtu.be/ambnib6FxVE
The sound quality when playing music is just fine.

After playing around with setting and stuff, the keyboard is missing-does not pop up when needed. The only thing it does is display a little keyboard in the left upper corner. Also in the settings menu the chosen standard keyboard is in light grey so I think it is enabled but not functional. Video http://youtu.be/PXI1z2zBr-0
Even installing another keyboard and choose this as standard does not work.
I have to use a USB keyboard to be able to type something....

A few hours after this post......
Update on my earlier posts.....
OBD update works with a 2 gig SDcard, not a 64 gig so update went well.
But after reboot the system keeps crashing-rebooting.
Pulled the fuse, keeps doing the same sh*t over and over.
Next solution ->flash the system with Android 4.0.3 (as it was).
Flashing went OK.
System works again so tried the OBD update again.
Same sh*t. Keeps booting.
Flashing for second time with Android 4.0.3 ->flashing does not go through the whole process, giving errors.
GAME OVER!
Back in the box to China.

There is no display of played song or navi in the HUD. Next or previous song selection on steering wheel does not work.
