i did the fuse mod pull, but really only let it sit for about 2 hours. is that long enough? I had to use the car to go see my grandma.
I didnt notice too much of a difference. So im guessing my dealer put 93 octane in from the start...which is a relief.

Okay this is probably already been asked but I assume if you have a tune it will not go back to the low octane tables?
I did the fuse pull before the tune and did not notice a difference. I broke my car in hard and it has only had 91 octane in it once!

Depends on the tune. Some have been known to benefit from the fuse pull even with a tune. |

Arrrggghhh, wish I'd found this forum a week ago.....out to burn that tank of mid-grade off. Prolly do some timed runs then see what the fuse pull does for me!
Thanks for this useful info. |

What if you do the fuse pull and there is no improvment?

Roadstar, did you time your 0-60 acceleration before and after the fuse pull? If not, do a few 0-60 runs and let us know what your times are.
Here are some things that everyone should be doing before a fuse pull: 1) Time your 0-60 acceleration! 2) Pull the fuses and let it sit overnight. 3) Time your 0-60 acceleration! 4) Did you see improvement? If you're around 5 seconds, you're ok. No improvement? When was your car built? If your car was built in 2010, you most likely have the latest ECU software version. I'd suggest running your tank to Empty and filling up at a different gas station and use the highest octane possible. Do some 0-60 runs over the next few tanks of gas and see how it does. If after all that, you still show acceleration times over 5.5 seconds, then maybe consider taking it in and seeing if there is a software update for the ECU and get it updated.

MJanowich,
Thank you for the advice. I did time a few 0-60 runs. I can only do the stopwatch method at this time. I came up with about an average of 6.0. When I pulled the fuses I let the car sit for a good 12 hours. This was on at least my 2nd tank of BP 93 octane. After the fuse pull I timed a few more 0-60 runs and still came up with about 6 seconds. My car was built in 9/09. This is the first car that I have ever had with anything like this much power, so it seems fast to me no mater what. But I know it is doing no where near 5 seconds. I want 5 seconds! I did buy the car used with 5000 miles on it. The owner of the dealership drove it for several months and told me that it had always had premium gas put in it, but who really knows. It was really hot on the days I tried the post fuse pull 0-60 runs. I'll burn more 93 and maybe wait for some cooler weather. I assume multiple fuse pulls does not hurt anything? If you can, get a device to time it. Something with an accelerometer. So that it starts as soon as the car moves. It's real hard to get a good time by stopwatch in the car. Or take a video and stopwatch it like that. But do it 15 or 20 times and come up with an average. I don't currently know of any other problems causing a power loss. |

Thanks for the input PQ. I did a Google search for accelerometer and I am still not sure what I need to buy or where to buy it. Can you suggest a product? I don't have an I Phone.

I have the Passport G-Timer GT2 by Escort. It's accurate enough to tell if you have a problem, but I don't know if they sell it anymore.
Do you have a digital camera that can record video? If so, you can use that like PQ said. See the last post in my thread here for details on how to use the frame count to time your car. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88544

Sorry to bug you guys, . . . but . . .
I have an 09 Caddy CTS with the same 3.6 304hp engine as the camaro. I am getting the slugishness with higher octain fuel the same as everyone here. My question is can I just disconnect the battery for the same results for reseting the timing map? My fusebox is different than the camaro so I cannot pull the same fuses as you guys
.Thanks in advance. Ed |
