Automatic LS3. It's basically a new and improved G8 GXP.

The only options on the SS, besides colour, are power sunroof & full size spare

Chevrolet is pulling out of the European market in general.

Smart move, considering Opel/Vauxhall competed for the same buyers.

I heard the SS sedan will be moved to the new plant in Michigan where the 6th Gen Camaro and ATS will be built and share the same platform as them as well.

If the next-gen Commodore goes on Alpha. And that's if GM decides to continue the SS sedan at all.

I hope GM does keep the SS sedan, I think they need to have a rear-wheel full size sedan option other than the more expensive Cadillac. I mean you do have to assume some compromises with the Camaro which works for some people. The SS sedan option would allow a performance rear-wheel option for those that could not assume those compromises, and might not necessarily be able to afford a Cadillac.

More reports that GM is shutting down Holden manufacturing in Australia. GM's media site is down so can't confirm.

Isn't this awful timing for the SS?

Yes and no. If they really wanted to, they could move production elsewhere. But GM doesn't really seem to care about selling the SS in volume anyways. I'm not really sure what their thinking is with the car. They haven't supported it with a conventional roll-out and there is no V6 volume model to help with sales. Maybe they approved it just to give Holden a few more cars to build.

At any rate, rebranded Holdens have a history of not surviving more than 3 model years in the US -and GM being perfectly fine with it. Somehow, someway, it all makes sense to them.
