"Respondents also had strong preferences for which automakers they would consider purchasing an electric vehicle from if they were to do so. Nearly one-third (30%) would most likely consider Toyota (TM) as their top choice for an electric vehicle, followed by Tesla (TSLA) at 23%, Honda (HMC) at 20%, GM (GM) with 15%, and Ford (F) at 14%."

I think they really should have gone more hybrid, more alternate fuels, and EV all together. I know several of you have said the same. It just makes more financial sense given the infrastructures.

It would certainly be different if the batteries were recyclable or re-usable in a mainstream sense. They're not, so it's just hazardous waste that we're putting in the ground all the time.

Correct EV's should be another option of types of vehicles you can buy along with ICE or hybrid, etc... That makes the most sense and I believe in the end that is what will happen. That is my opinion... but if anyone here (including myself) believes they can tell you what the auto landscape will be 5, 10 years from now, they are doing nothing but giving you their opinion.

Ask Ford (who's EV's are sitting) if they still plan to go full EV by 2035. Doubtful. ICE is going to be here for a long time, especially if leadership in Washington changes, mandates are rolled back, and gas prices come back down.

As far as the Camaro goes... It doesn't surprise me that gm stopped producing it. I drove the lot the other day (I was bored) it was all crossovers and pick-ups Oh and by the way all the crossovers look exactly the same. It's a multiband lot by me, so it wasn't all gm. I left the lot with my wife and said, man there is not one single vehicle on that lot that would cause me to part with my cash. It's sad... There is not one EV that would make me part with my money. Every single Tesla model is gut wrenching hideous. The EV Silverado is about the only thing I find somewhat appealing, but $110k... Bwhaaaa Haaaaaa ... Never

All of this is essentially the automakers going all in on the automotive equivalent of betamax.

This is not exactly true. Many are and will be repurposed for less demanding roles when they are no longer suitable for EV usage. I'm not saying there will be no waste, just that they are trying to come up with creative ways to give the modules another lifecycle.

As of this moment, I would be willing to bet money that over 75% of it is buried in the ground, been burned to crisps, or has been submerged in water. I highly doubt much of it has been recycled, apart from perhaps being swapped to other vehicles from crashed vehicles.

I've watched a ton of Rich Rebuilds and a few other channels and the sheer amount of stuff sitting in dumps/junkyards is pure crazy.

Market forces can only be ignored so long. You can fool some of the people some of the time, and EV manufacturers are certainly doing that, but there is a size-able fraction of the population who can see that the Emperor is naked.

Yes, because these companies are increasingly becoming an extension of government shielded from complete failure. The Green New Deal.

Exactly... I have been saying this same thing in so many EV threads. The consumer will decide if EV's are the next thing, not the manufactures. "If you build it they will come" just isn't the case. The manufactures can build all they want, and if they are not purchased, they can go bankrupt. If they have no plan B, they can go out of business... You can't force people to buy a product.
