Not any time soon. Deciding where exactly we'd like to go is only the first step. Other things have to be done after that before we make any sort of announcement. I expect it will probably be made at roughly the same time it was last year. We can't really get any more specific than that.

I'm just curious, how hard would it be to get booked a few years in advance? for instance, look for a location for c5f 4 at the same time as c5f 3 and have both locked in. then after c5f3 is done, look for a location for c5f 5. That way people can plan to take time off work, if they have to drive far, and will know the exact date.

this would also lessen the amount of threads like this one.

edit: also, you don't have to anounce c5f4 until after c5f3 is over.

Not only that but I would think it would cost less that far in advance. But I could be wrong... It happens from time to time

could the Mods at least let us know which venues are possible, and have been in their consideration? maybe like a top 5 places.

You assume that people read such threads before creating a new one ...

If someone else wants to provide a list, I don't have a problem with it. But for now, I'll just say that the only places we've really talked about are generally north-central. If you want a reference area, lets say near Indiana. That seems to be where a lot of our personal favourites are centred.

Here's a list for Indiana.

And, here's a list for Illinois.

Right now all we can say is east of the Mississippi and north of I-10

That's An idea but please keep in mind that C5F is only 2 years old. So we as organizers are just now feeling confident that we can look beyond next year. Also keep in mind we have to squeeze organizing the fest into our daily lives. And we don't get paid to do it other than our expenses so even with 10 or so guys helping. It's a lot of work.
