I was in traffic, so he pulled near the center divider and waited for me to cross by, and then he lit me up and had me pull over once exiting the first exit. So, he cited me for everything visual and sound related on my car that was illegal. He had my pop my hood and everything. It was a damn nightmare. I received two correctable violations and two more non correctable ones. Now, a modified exhaust citation requires you to make an appointment with the state ref. to inspect the exhaust system of the vehicle and test the DB limit of the vehicle with a very specific procedure. If it passes, you will have proof to go back to the CHP (or whichever agency have the citation), and have them sign off on the ticket to ensure its done and legal.

Thanks a ton! I really appreciate your educated input. It's always nice to hear how it works from someone who is, used to be, or worked around individuals who perform the inspections.

I'll let everyone know how it goes tomorrow morning at the ref. station.. Amazingly, I had to cancel for today's appointment, and that's another crapy store. Let's just say I had a dead damn battery when I was about to leave home for the ref. So, $208 later for a new battery, my car is ready to again. Also, I added a front license plate that is adhesive backed so I can take it off if needed with no drill holes. I also removed my driver and passenger window tint myself by using a fabric steamer. Trust me on this, it's THE perfect way to remove window tint and it didn't leave even a spec of adhesive residue behind. So, my car is ready to roll to get inspected and sound checked. In regards to the widow tint, I figured now I can drive with the windows up for once without getting pulled over, lol, and at car shows my windows are usually down and th doors up vertical, so I don't need tinted windows even though I prefer it.

damn tommy it sounds like the state is hurting for money because they never been this strict on bullshit like sound and window tint, how about fighting crime and getting drugs off the street ? i guess thats not important they rather put resources into giving ****ing window tint and exhaust tickets

No shit man. This state is a joke. By the way, I just got my car tested at the ref and I DIDN'T pass. Now I have to find quieter mufflers. My tickets are due to pay by this Friday. So, I need a damn extension now. Oh joy. Now I'm getting pissed.

Hey Tommy, not sure if you have a muffler in mind or even what you're running now, but for a really good exhaust system I'd recommend SLP Loud Mouth II. I run them with Kooks headers and no cats and they're fairly quiet until I get on it. Also, we do have a performance shop that has volunteered to be our Head Turners official shop, it's in Redondo Beach and all HT's get great pricing. Dizzy is getting his headers & tune done there this Saturday. PM me if you want more info.

Of course bro! We just did a Porsche 911 Whale Tail Slant Nose wide body kit on a 1972 Porsche and it looks fantastic. We specialize in High Performance LS cars and exotics. I'm working on us becoming a sponsor on the site as well, but ALL Head Turners will receive the BEST price available. I don't want to throw the name out there until everything with our sponsorship on the forum is completed, so you can PM me for more details. Which kit did you get and I will get you a price today.

Thanks John. I truly appreciate it. I will look into the Loud Mouth mufflers and check prices to weld them in. The shop sounds great and they are worth trying. I always love shops willing to provide good work at a discounted price in return for more business. That's how I work shiznit out with my shops . They treat me and my friends right, and I'll treat them right.

Thanks man. It really sucks asshole to change things, but my car will still look the same for the most part (as my license palte will be removable , and the taillights I have now with the rear blackout look better than it did with the tint and no blackout, and the windows will have to be rolled down especially with the doors up due to no tint now, but the car just won't be as loud or sound nearly as good. I am going to keep changing mufflers until I get under the 95 DB limit, JUST so I can get that damn referee pass certification for sound compliance. Then, when another officer pulls me over, I am literally going to hand them a copy of my cert. and smile. I'll have a smog legal car, legal components, and a show car, and nobody can say a damn thing about it. My goal is to have a great looking legal (mostly or fully legal , lol) car that I can still go to shows with and the race when the time comes, but still cruise on the streets without getting cited for every damn thing under the sun.

Tommy, just to clarify it's the Loudmouth II, because there is a Loudmouth, but that's almost like running straight pipes, so you definitely DON'T want the LM. SLP website has videos so you can get an idea of the sound of their exhaust systems.
