ill say once and for all...ive got nothing against any moderator personally...i just dont always agree about the moderation part..which is my right as an American to agree and disagree...id die to be a moderator...thats how crazy i am about this site and this car....i know what kind of work goes into being one...i webmaster 2 sites...one for my hobby...one for my job...thats double the work of a moderator lol

half the time....create + moderate = :bangdesk:

with all the talk of IL and IN and North Central...the evidence would point towards a location other than Englishtown...so saying its been written off isnt entirely false...and maybe it isnt true either...but

evidence would also suggest that there be some favoritism amongst moderators...and having a nomination inside a forum instead of a poll format is ammo for the prosecution on that count

but...evidence also showed Casey Anthony killed her daughter and she walked scott free....so i guess any evidence in any case...is circumstancial at best lol

im not saying Englishtown is a prime location just because its within a days drive from me and most of New England Camaro 5 as others seem to think...but because I feel that an event thats made itself nationally known...and of this magnitude...should be held at a location that is world renoun for holding huge events in the automotive industry....honestly ive never heard of Joilet, IL or Indiana having what CamaroFest requires until someone mentioned it....as i said before...pretty much anyone whos crazy enough about a car to join its respective internet forum...knows about Englishtown

cus Etown is no where near off the list... That is actually an ideal facility.

Where does this stuff come from?

I actually like the idea of Etown. But the decision isn't mine alone.

And to be making any predictions at this point is silly. We do not have a location picked yet... we haven't even begun negotiations yet...

And the comment about us not listening to the people.. that's a little offensive... FWIW. Maybe you didn't mean it to be. If not that's cool. But please know that the loudest voice is the people... We the staff get to go anyway. And we are making some changes to make it better for the sponsors who want to be where the people are... So please know, the fest is absolutely about you...

I can say the same thing about Englishtown. Seriously, I never heard of Englishtown till I read about it in this thread. Well, I may have read about it in an auto magazine once or twice over the years, but it never stood out in my mind.

but, thats because I dont live in the NE area and dont personally plan to spend a long amount of time up there (ie months/year/etc.) so a track/facility that I never plan on going to in my lifetime doesnt stick in my mind.

Places like Bowling Green, Joliet, Indy, Kansas City, Gateway International, etc do stick in my mind, but thats because I've been there hundreds of times over the years.

its all relative.

and another thing to look at is hotel lodging near the track, potential cruise routes, police/HP assistance, plus the cost to rent the track, transport supplies for the fest, etc. A lot of "bigger" tracks will want a bigger cut to rent their facilities, or they might want to merge our event with another one. We're keeping our eyes and ears open. We haven't decided anything yet, location, dates... nothing. we've got some ideas of what, where, and when, but nothing is written in stone.

Well you certainly understand the work that goes into a site like this..

You should also understand how difficult it is to please every one here.

Be sure all of this is just talk. We've not even come close to a decision. now having said that, we are now getting the ball rolling to make a decision and announcement. My hope is 30 days from now we'll know.

As to the poll vote comment. I'm not sure if that is in reference to how moderators are picked or how the next location is picked.. if you menat moderators we can take that conversation to PM's.

If you mean the next location. I would sincerely hope you'd understand we can't just go anywhere. We don't Have moderators in all 50 states so where ever we pick needs to be less than a days drive for one of our staff members so we can coordinate with the track and so on..

So we can't have a vote or poll. So we do the best we can by leaving threads like this open and considering the multiple variables that go into a final decision. Not the least of which is the members but there is also afford-ability... I'd love to go 4 wide at Zmax but that track is Notorious for being very expensive. Part of the reason we didn't sign a contract with Vegas. They are justifiably pretty proud of their facility but with all the constraints we had to deal with it wasn't worth it.

There is no favoritism in this decision. PQ and I are very good friends but I'm not gonna reschedule the fest in Mobile al so he can have it in his own back yard.... If it were up to me it would be in Valdosta EVERY year. But that isn't fair either.

End of the day. we can't please everyone. hopefully more people are happy than disappointed.

why did you look at me when you said that.

You said for the next fest, "hrpiii, for C5Fest III, you will need a passport, birth certificate, know how to drive left and right handed, read 3 different foreign languages, and have a Visa CC and can convert currency in your head".

I have one on the list, a Visa CC. Now, where the heck is this fest going to be again.

Uhm.. Don't forget... you had to walk the entire 1/4 mile blindfolded without crossing the centerline...

Gotta keep my eye on you....

Drove 600+ miles for C5I. Drove 5200+ miles for C5II. Already planning for C5III where ever it is planned. Neither were in my backyard and didn't matter. Worth every mile to attend. All I can say is plan ahead, plan vacation / sick time to cover. Well worth the time to meet other members from across the country plus our Canadian friends up north. Put a few $$$$ away between mods to camaro to cover costs of hotel and gas. If it's too far to travel then enjoy it thru the site. Don't hound the mods, if they didn't put forth the effort the FEST would not happen, the sponsers wouldn't attend, and we would be stuck and home thinking about what could have been......

Yep, thanks! Won't hold you to an exact announcement date at all. Just knowing an announcement is coming sometime in August is cool.

Mods, your work is very much appreciated.
