And none of the SS models stood a chance to see anything but Z/28 tail lights when you forgot the 1/4 mile and started running roads with some curves thrown in!

You are correct sir, that's why the Z28 is a LEGEND , it was not just quick in the 1/4 mile but was also a great handling car, the SS had no chance once the roads started to curve

Any news on the Z-28...2010 GT 500 news

Is there any word yet on the Z-28 for 2011. Ford just released this info on the 2010 GT-500.

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/01/d...00-bites-back/

PS: The MSRP on the car is reported to be between $52,000 and $54,000.

I sure hope there is a Z-28, I really would love to have one. I think it would be a crying shame if they don't at least make a couple in 2011. If not now they probably never will. This also may be the last year for the GT 500. They cut the production on the 2009 model and made only 1,000. The production run was supposed to be 3,000.

I think there will always be a market for muscle cars.

Thanks zebra,

It does look like it is a dead horse. I wonder if there will be a higher HP variant of the 420 HP SS.

The other thought is if there will be any shops that will be doing after market mods on the SS that won't destroy your warranty.

Thanks for the reply,

Steve

I still think the SS will give it a run for its money. Im not saying that the GT 500 wont be faster but i think the Camaro is a better built machine. I saw a video of a 08? and on hard launchs the axle hop was out of control. And i believe a base corvette is faster then a GT 500, but i will have to check on that. For about 20 grand less i will buy the better looking, better equiped just as fast SS camaro.

Sorry, but they are pretty much the same same weight and the GT 500 has 120 more hp than the Camaro. It's not going to be just as fast. Unless the guy in the GT 500 was missing his right arm and had the 6-spd manual that GT 500 will beat a stock Camaro all day long.

Of course if you buy your $31K Camaro SS and spend about 6-7 grand you could beat the GT 500 for about $15K less.

Yes the GT 500 will be faster, i'm guessing 4.3-4.4ish 0-60. What will the camaro run? 4.8? Just saying that you won't be blown out of the water, and i think the camaro will go around that corners faster, because of the IRS. More horsepower means nothing if you can't get it to the ground. Just some thoughts

Camaro will be quicker. My opinion is just as valid as those that say the shelby is faster. Untill the comparison tests of actual vehicles, its all speculation. Posted and advertized hp and weight figures are two of many variables involved in which is quicker.
