Central part would fall into category too. When I'm saying East coast and the West coast I'm actually dividing the country in half so even if I say East coast I could be referring to say Louisiana or Alabama not exactly referring to say Florida or Georgia. Trust me I want everyone to be able to make what's close to them and feel the Fest should bounce around every year so that in time everyone will have made it to at least one of these. It is the Mecha of all that is Gen 5's IMO and want everyone (including myself) to get to attend one that isn't half way across the U.S. Again just my opinions but that's what this thread is about, open discussion.

This is my point exactly, The Camaro Superfest has been running what 19 years. From what I know it has stayed in the same place, I just think C5 should do the same thing, of course no matter some will have an advantage of not long travel.

Like other shows like Hot August nights they stay the same and it has not bothered that show one bit, it will take three days to see everything there. I'm just saying.

If you are set on the west in 2011. I think you guys should think about this for 2012. You would of given both the east and west guys a chance to see you can put on a top notch event.

So in 2012 FIND A PLACE IN THE MIDWEST WITH DRAG STRIP AND ROAD COARSE. If all goes well at that location then have it there and keep it there every year.

You would make it easier on everyone if you did it and watch it grow like the Camaro even in Atlanta has over the years.

Just some food for thought. And Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas rocks.

You have somewhat of a valid point there with how other shows do it but I think that because we are all a family on here yet are scattered everywhere from east coast to west coast down to the south coast and up to Canada as well as other countries as well it is in Camaro5's better interest to move around every year, IMO at least. Gives everyone a different chance of shorter/longer driving distance so that the "random pick" is somewhat fair to everyone as well as gives us all a chance to see, show, and drive somewhere we maybe have never been before. Again just my opinion but think the way they are handling it now is the best way.

That is a good point. I just look at it from a logistical and finacial standpoint.

So follow me for a few moments. For the sake of discussion let's say we pick a central location, we will say Ada, OK for the sake of arguement, don't even know if that is a central location but anyway.

Ada is great, plenty of hotels, great food, nice venue, awesome people, whatever, then everyone will know how much it will cost them to attend, gas hotel, food, time involved in travel etc....this way people can make plans financially speaking to attend, then they can kinda figure out time off from work and things like that. This will also allow our vendors to become more familiar with the area nad their individual needs etc..

As far as the mods are concerned it will be more of a confirming type thing each year, really just ensuring vendor registration and member attendance and should be alot less work for them and their ability to better enhance the event based on knowledge and experience. If we keep going to a new site they have to begin from ground zero each time with contacts etc....

And I still believe you will get more attendance if it is centrally located, for example say someone in california, many will not attend an event on the east coast because of the time and money involved. We are talking about 28 hours, at least, of driving time one way. Depending on how you break that up that is at the minumum of 2 day driving each way probably more, same with people from east coast with a west coast event. So if the event is a days drive or less for most then I think alot more would attend.

All great ideas and valid points.

But, We also want to grow the popularity of the car and the site... Our tentative long term plan is to move the even around for the next couple years... West, then central...

Then decide, with all of your help, if we want to leave it in one place... or continue cycle between 3 locations... or do it someplace new every year...

all have pros and cons. but if we move it we can expose the camaro and our members to different locations and events. And our event sponsors get the chance to plug into new markets and network outside of their current location...

Again no hard permanent long term decisions have been made....

We are open to all options.. for now I think we are going to try central in 2012. Then make a real tough decision.... What to do from there......

It really isn't that hard when you accept that no matter what you decide a large number of people will be unhappy with the decision you make. Now if you want to make everyone happy, the organisers will be unhappy because you can't. You have a plan. Stick to it and take pride in having created a great event no matter where you hold it. In a perfect world, no one will complain becuase you and a small group are doing all the heavy lifting.

Btw, I'll be really happy is you hold it at Gingerman, just 40 minutes from my home and office.

I doubt we could do this, but how cool would it be to hold this event at Milford with the full support of GM????

I see the good points that have been brought up, I guess time will tell when the event rolls around and the attendance numbers come in.

Why not do an east coast and a west coast meet? Lets face it, if its in LA then, as I'm in northern Alabama, it would take 3-4 days of driving roundtrip and that's not how I spend my vacation time.

Plus, Camaro owners ranks are growing by leaps and bounds. Next year I'm guessing there will be enough to fill two events.

We have full time jobs and commitments... running one major event is brutal enough...

And, we want as many of the Camaro5 faithful together in one place.. if we do a east/west thing then our site is divided by the mississippi....

For now an annual event where all of us can get together seems to be the best approach for now...

And we don't want our sponsors to have to choose which one...

Yes, we've had enough people who have a ton more experience at this tell us we can probably safely hold two a year..... But that kinda goes against our philosophy... and lessens the exitement of the annual event...

Maybe some day we will Have to have two a year.... Who knows...
