But if your gonna track a Corvette every weekend, I would still get a base Z06 if I absolutely had to have a Corvette... Screw the MRC crap, they are illegal to use in 99.9% of road racing circuits and you would have to replace them to compete.

Or I could just get a Boss 302 and not have to worry about any of that.
LOL @ super secret MH3, so i take it you werent able to find information on how it was rated?!?!

The GT500 SVTPP was faster than the Boss 302 LS at Willow, that's all I have seen so far. The GT500 and even the GTR makes big gains at Willow where the Z06 and Boss didn't do as good as they did at Laguna. Forced Induction might struggle at Laguna, it is usually warmer in California than Missouri. Big elevation changes would have a greater penalty on heavier cars too.

Road and Track ran the Boss 302 LS at Laguna Seca, it ran a 1.39.50 at 130mph http://www.fastestlaps.com/tracks/laguna_seca.html (Boss 302 ran a 1:40.21 at 129mph) If the Boss's are pulling 129mph+ at Laguna Seca, I have no idea why Insideline pulls only 112mph top speed in the back stretch at Willow, that is 18mph slower between tracks.
Z06 -11mph
GT500 -8mph
GTR -5mph
Boss LS -18mph? 112mph is just as fast as Motor Trends GT max, which is crazy IL tested the Boss LS to be just as fast to 60, in the 1/4, had a similar skidpad and a 72mph slalom. Looks like the driver screwed the pooch because 18mph gap between any track is hard to do..

Insideline refuses to play with the suspension too and I don't know why... Unless they are afraid it will need realigned.

As I clap my hands for the Boss for coming out and giving us some great #'s
I'm pretty Sure Gm wont let the corvette hang low to long to let ANY POINY CAR catch up with it.

Ford has the Mustang

Gm has the Vette and the Camaro

However when push comes to shove I'm sure Gm will make sure the Vette will sit on top of the throne.

However I still give the 302 a hand

The Boss's are not in the Z06 league (or Corvette for that matter). When you register the Boss 302 or LS in Autocross or Road Racing, you will be place accordingly with similar automobiles. You would have to do some aftermarket upgrades to accumulate enough penalty points to bump you into the Corvette's class (Grand Sport excluded)

SCCA and NASA (and the FIA) still use a penalty point system and the Z06 is way above most of the classes the Boss 302 falls in. Maybe the Boss 302 LS could manage to get close to the Z06 but you would have to add some stuff. Sometimes competition spec slicks, some weight reduction and some exterior parts would put you in the Z06 class. The LS's front splitter would cost you a point or two.

I dont think GM is really gunna chase the GT500 if ford decides to put 620hp on it.

Why? Because I dont think that GM will go that far on the Camaro. GM will always gunna Prioritize the vette over the Camaro. 620hp is ZR1 level! GM will always make the vettes one step better than the Camaro.

Also ford only have the Mustang as their Sports Car. The GT500 is the Flagship sports car for ford thats why they go all out on it. On the other hand the Camaro is not the Flagship sports car of GM the Vette is.

If ford realy decides to put 620hp on the GT500 probably their gunna rank up the GT500 to the Corvette level. since thats their flagship sports car.

A new list was put up literally an hour after you posted. It still isn't known what Jonathan Bomarito (2010 Daytona GT class winner) ran the Boss 302 Laguna Seca at exactly, but Ford said it was under 1:39, I can't see it being much lower than 1:39, maybe a 1:38.50-1:38.99. He pulled consistent 1:40's in the Boss 302... Anyway, someone must be listening to our conversations.. here is the new list that was put up an hour after you posted. If editors are posting lightning laps like this, I can see the LS getting close to that 997 Turbo.

Could it be that Hachette Filipacchi Media is finally warming up to Ford? You will also notice that R&T adjusted the dampers to 5... Imagine that!!! When you "adjust" the adjustable dampers you see results!!! Maybe Insideline didn't have a screw driver...

I'm not completely sold on that though, If you look at the GT500 runs at Laguna and Willow.. the GT500 shows awesome progress at Willow, it actually closes on the Z06. I quoted the time difference incorrectly a couple of post ago. I said:
Quote:
The GT500 actually gains alot of ground on the Z06 at Willow, it was 13 seconds slower (wrong) at Laguna (1.44 w/ 2010 GT500) and was only 3 seconds slower at Willow (1.23).
The times are correct but the 13 seconds is wrong... sorry about that. Regardless, the GT500 still shows awesome progress at Willow, reducing the Z06's lead from 7 seconds at Laguna to 3 seconds at Willow. Even though there are a lot of straights at Willow, they are short and it doesn't allow the Z06 enough runway to use its speed. The Boss LS is suppose to be just as fast to 60 but the huge torque of the GT500 will give it blistering exit speeds out of the corners, and most of those corners are high speed turns anyway. It would be a very good race between the GT500 SVTPP and the Boss 302 LS, but the increases I seen in both the forced induction cars (GT500 and the GTR) I would say that the GT500 might have the advantage at this track for a faster lap.

If I remember correctly, the GT500's Goodyear's were causing problems being too cold. Although the Laguna Seca run was a 2010 GT500, I just think the GT500 suffered from a little heat in California, drastic elevation change and weight wouldn't help in those situations either. This GT500 weighed 3808lbs and loves the cool Missouri air as all FI cars do...

I need a data sheet from Insideline and possibly a serious run to say if the Boss LS has a shot at Willow... but for now, I am going with the GT500 at Willow when Randy drives it.
